Golden Knights making changes to TV broadcast team

No change to play-by-play (Goucher) and analyst (Hnidy).

Studio host Nick Gismondi, analyst Brad May and rinkside reporter Alyson Lozoff did not have their contracts renewed and will not return, according to people with knowledge of the decision who were not authorized to speak on the record.

But no replacements named (yet).

I will miss Lozoff, May not so much. May and that coach that they had fill in left much to be desired in their analysis, nothing but cliches.

Hopefully, they can find some more colorful commentators.

The club announced its new pregame, intermission and postgame host will be Sportsnet veteran Daren Millard, its new studio analyst will be former NHL goaltender Mike McKenna and its new rinkside reporter will be Las Vegas native Stormy Buonantony.

Looking forward to watching Stormy. I was never comfortable with all the carpetbaggers coming in from other established hockey markets to glom on to VGK. I understand it, but never liked it. There are plenty of homegrown people that are capable in most phases of the broadcast/product.

VGK doesn't have any (retired) alumni yet (ignoring the IR guys and those who returned to Europe). That's nominally the first pool teams like to pull from.


My guess is that they wanted Stormy two years ago, but contractually things couldn't work out.
