Sounds like Djoos got a thigh bruise that ran wild and he needed emergency surgery, if you listen to what Joe B said about it. Maybe the same thing that happened to Wiseman a couple years ago. Iirc, though, that took several days of exams and treatment. This seems to have gotten severe perhaps overnight. Joe B said "they had to get the young man some help". So maybe it was a torn artery
Wow. Ok. Thanks for the info

Still don't understand why rod brind amour did not put aho in the shoot out.

Aho probably didn’t work hard enough in the weight room.

Glad Reirden put Ovie in the shootout even though his numbers aren’t great. He was feeling it, and for once at least Ovie didn’t get cute. His shot was saved, but at least he shot it rather than going for a deke.

Sounds like Compartment Syndrome to me.

Watching the Canes broadcast and after the hatty they stayed on the Caps bench for a long time. Ovie just looking so serious, it's scary. You can see Wilson wants to talk to him but Ovie is just waiting for them to pick up the hats and get going. Great shot of Wilson saying to no on in particular "What a f***ing shot!".

No idea what that is but in the pre-game presser when asked "could this be season ending for Djoos?" Reirden didn't rule that out :( , he just said it's too early to tell but that it is definitely long term.

If it is compartment syndrome, it's potentially life threatening without surgery. Serious stuff.

Compartment syndrome occurs when excessive pressure builds up inside an enclosed muscle space in the body. Compartment syndrome usually results from bleeding or swelling after an injury. The dangerously high pressure in compartment syndrome impedes the flow of blood to and from the affected tissues. It can be an emergency, requiring surgery to prevent permanent injury.

From webMD (not txMD), "Compartment syndrome occurs when excessive pressure builds up inside an enclosed muscle space in the body. Link. I had a few friends get this when I was in the military. It happens normally during a fracture or a crush injury and is exacerbated by physical activity (running, swimming, biking... skating). Scary stuff - you need to be rushed into emergency surgery to relieve the pressure or you risk losing life or limb. The surgery normally entails slicing open the affected appendage to relieve pressure. Good news: all my friends who had it were able to return to full fitness a few weeks or months after the injury with no lasting side effects.

Of course you don’t buy it. Trotz is your god.

The thing you are conveniently ignoring is that 2 yesrs ago, they were so “structured” that it stifled them offensively in the playoffs— when they ran into an equally structured system. AND what happened? They lost.

New system created far more offense, which far better played to THIS teams strengths, and they won. It all.

But sure— let’s pine for the teams of Trotz stifling structure. They brought us so much joy in the end!

Carry on my wayward son
Trotz style is probably more successful in the playoffs because all teams tend to tighten up in the playoffs. Officiating is also different. They let more go in the playoffs.
You many remember that we fell behind 2 games to 0 zero against Columbus. After that 2nd game the Caps went back to more defensively responsible system and it didnt hurt our offense much because of our skill. Dont kid yourself, if we did not go back to a more structured defensive game that Trotz is known for we probably get eliminated in the first round. We didnt win because if our dynamic offense. Did you forget that Holtby didnt have a single shutout last season but had back to back shutouts to get us past the 3rd round. It was the Trotz system that got us the Stanley cup. And that is a fact.
You carry on wayward. Bye

Very unfortunate for Djoos.

Well, this is just wrong. They didn't change their entire defensive system in game 3, they changed the goalie and benched the one defender who was leaking high danger chances into goals by the bushel.

Their play improved when they sat Jerabik (sp?) for Djoos and Grubby for Holtby. Grubs let in some softies but Jerabek was a disaster around his net too.

Yes they did. Watch the post games by Trotz in the series against Columbus. They switched to the left wing lock. Yes you can say Grubauer and Jerabek didnt play well. I agree. But it was the defensive system we used in the playoffs that won the cup for us. Like U said zero shutouts for Holtby in the regular season and back to back against a very good offensive team in Tampa during the playoffs. It was the system. And yes that is accurate.

Random game observation from last night.. Worst ice of the season. Puck was bouncing so much you could even see the players hesitate a bit.
