Decent. Really liked his play, but if he wants to ever become a top 4 defenseman it'd be wise for him to move on to a rebuilding team.

Didn’t this guy clear waivers? Seems a bit high of an award if so.

He cleared waivers because no one knew what his arbitration ask was and no one had the time to make a last-minute arbitration case (in fact, someone here on HF suggested the ask could well be in the 2.5 to 3.0M range). If he were waived tomorrow with his contract in place, plenty of teams claim him. He was a very good #5 defenseman for us last year.

Perfect. Kept it under a million. I'd say his agent screwed up getting him more than vValimaki or Anderson. Now if either of them impress in camp again it's yet another reason to bury Kulak.

He's a good bottom pairing guy but pretty much the definition of replaceable

Calgary accepts ?

Did they have the choice ?

Isn't there a minimum under which they can't decline an award ?

It's late and I might confuse this with something else...

There is a minimum award value that has to be exceed before a team can decline. There was never a doubt of him being at a level the Flames would have to accept.
