I agree I would have expected them to at least be #2 in the division this year. Unfortunately for them they are only 3 points and 1 game in hand ahead on MTL.

Leafs have lost 3 straight, Habs have won 2 of 3.

Also they are 5 points out of 2nd overall in the league, it took them until February 21 to lose 3 straight, yes they are to good for this conversation they are 6-3-1 in their last 10 and they are "struggling"

I believe you are incorrect sir. TOR has 76 points, MTL has 73.

Considering the two teams play each other tomorrow night, a 3 point gap is small - even with a game in hand.
