What fascinates me the most is that the people who pedal conspiracies about vaccines are in many cases the not so bright people you knew growing up. It's the uneducated taking tidbits and hot gossip and spreading it like they have a PhD thesis on the topic.
I don't agree entirely. Some of the smarter folks I know believe it because they're good at rationalizing their beliefs. Genuinely a lot of people are (rightfully so) distrustful of authority figures and want to be skeptical of the world and about their own bodies. That's fine, but it's gone so far in the other direction that we've gone backward in terms of our willingness to understand science, because of other dogmatic worldviews.

If Gary Bettman was unvaccinated he's not getting past the mandates. This is a public health issue and you are potentially risking the lives and livelihood of many players, staff, and arena workers. No one is above it.

What mandates? You are allowed to practice and play with your team without being vaccinated. Columbus could have invited Rinaldo to camp if they wished, they thought he wasn't worth it.

Not sure if you are making a case for Rinaldo or against him. Why this ban against unvaccinated if the vaccinated can catch the bug and forward it to others just like unvaccinated?

1. Vaccinated people catch and die at least 10x less often than those who are unvaccinated.
2. The more the viral football gets kicked around the more chance it has to mutate.
2a. In order to mutate, the virus has to multiply and increase in its "load" which is more easily done when it's in a person who is unvaccinated because you have less immunity to the virus (unless you've previously had that specific strain of corona).
2b. Misconception: Natural immunity because I've already had the Rona. Yes, having a specific strain will give you immunity to the virus, but if you were to catch delta or another strain, congratulations your body isn't prepared for it. Part of the beauty of vaccines and boosters is that you can introduce immunity to be built up towards new variants without directly having to face them.
3. Kids and elderly and immunocompromised people (obese, diabetics, heart failure patients, cancer patients) all have immune systems that are not always mature enough or strong enough to handle serious illness. We have vaccines that can protect them to a certain extent but because their ability to sustain an immune response to the vaccine isn't as strong or long-lasting as someone who is young and healthy, even with the vaccine some of these populations need to be extra careful (repeat boosters, etc.).

Non-science:
4. The longer we keep passing on the viral football and the more it mutates, the more variants we get. The more variants we get, the more dangerous variants we could produce that are more deadly, more transmissible, and make us susceptible even if we have been previously vaccinated. So, we will have more shutdowns, more mandates, more restrictions to our lives and it will take much longer for us to get back to "normal" or whatever that may be. Because whether you like it or not, we live in a world that is run by corporations and wealthy people. They want productivity out of you and if you affect their bottom line because of your beliefs and choices, you will simply be left out of the loop. The vast majority of the people are vaccinated and science-abiding folk. They want to work and live their lives and spend their money. Corporations want to make money and need workers that will be productive. You either play by the rules or you don't play at all. It's cute when certain people go on about fascism and communism taking over parts of the world when they damn well know the issue is corporations. Not ideologies. No one truly has freedom. Unless you live on a farm in the middle of nowhere and consume what you produce. It's a depressing thought but, if you're proud of guzzling gas and participating in consumerism while clamoring for freedoms, it's kind of silly.

You take the jab, or you don't get to play or get paid. It's not a mandate but might as well be. Rinaldo didn't get invited because he's an idiot and a mediocre hockey player. Just like every other team who will talk about how they are xx% vaccinated and how so and so players who refused to get the vaccine will magically not participate in camps.
