To be fair to Carolina, Florida, Dallas and Vegas, the games in these playoffs have been pretty much shit for what the playoffs should give.

Last night I watched the London - Peterborough game as it was far more exciting than the Dallas - Seattle game, or a lot of games in the NHL were.

NHL is stuck in the middle of letting them play and calling any infraction.

Let the teams play, as there isn't more "skill" these past 2 playoff rounds than in years before...

The ratings are bad? Not my problem.

One day the owners will get rid of that doofus Bettman and usher a new. That day isn't today and it won't be tomorrow. The sport won't die, it'll just limp and struggle.

You can keep wishing for Bettman being fired. He's been around for nearly 30 years, and he has done what his employers wanted from him- grow the sport and make them $$. At this point, it's safe to say that he leaves on his own volition.

I guess because the league is so shameless in its pursuit of profit, at the expense of fan experience, there's some schadenfreude when revenues don't hit their projections and a bunch of executives have to sweat a little.
No one is going to sweat, the vast majority of revenue comes from tickets for regular season games and doesn't depend in the slightest on which teams make the conference finals.

And even if the revenue falls substantially for some mysterious reason, who gives a damn? NHLers will be paid a bit less, hockey team owners will make a bit less money, oh, the humanity!

That's fine. The owners are happy, so Bettman is in place.

From where I'm sitting the NHL is shambolic and has fallen behind in many ways. Neither the game nor the league have grown at the rate they should have -- or could have. The NHL's badly run but the owners are satisfied so, like I said earlier, not my problem.

You know how they start caring?

They have good teams.
The Stars have been in Dallas for 30 years and already won a cup... Went recently to the finals... Same can be said about Carolina.

Only team that was constant suckage was the Panthers, but even them had poor attendance in a year they were president trophy winners.

Maybe this time it's different, I guess.
