Skinner held them in through a terrible 40 minute effort. Then McDavid took over in the 3rd period to secure the blowout win.

Seriously, what was with the Oilers constantly losing coverage of the far Red Wings winger hanging out at the blue line for an entire period?

PK needs to get back on track.

The pokecheck he came out of no where.

Wasnt even on the screen and he comes flying in already on his stomach.
Was a spectacular play and the kind of hustle Holloway is known for.

Holloway hustle. Hope to be saying that more than a few times.

Gotta say on that play too he makes Debrincat look like the loser he is. No NHL team is ever going to W with guys like Debrincat.

This team needs a mental reset and has to get back to what was winning them games before. The solid defensive play has evaporated and they're missing way too many assignments through the neutral zone and in the defensive end. Our carelessness with the puck is troubling as well. Can't keep winning games and putting in performances like they've been throwing out there going back to the Columbus game.

If McDavid gets on track, looks like the scoring title is with-in his grasp again with the games he has in hand though... so there's that at least.

Honestly feels like this team is capable of playing loosey goosey offensive hockey or tight defensive hockey with limited offense the last little while. But they aren’t really capable of playing both in the same game. I guess its an improvement from previous years where we rarely saw any measured defensive game.

I think a good portion of their problems would be fixed if they just worked hard and skated hard. But it’s not consistent. See lots of entitled play.

Seider is a great young defenseman, but McDavid abused him tonight.
For sure. But in fairness the entire Wings topnine just looks to be in it for production. So many players you don't want for 200ft game. Wings have easily half a dozen players that will pass the puck anywhere. Among those is Kane, Debrincat, Perron. They bring offense both ways. If Detroit misses playoffs its clearly due to how much they give up. They could have Bobby Orr back there and it wouldn't matter.
