Back from work, first time able to post since down 3 to 1. Nice job everyone. I slept well. I did get a sms from a caps fan coworker around 1130 who was at the game. I didn't check the text because I didn't want to spoil it but figured we'd won. He knows better than to text me after a Canes loss.

Not once did this team lead in Washington in the 4 games there, still won

Last night was the most watched First Round game on RECORD. More than even when ESPN televised the games. 1.75 million average throughout the game. Peaked at over 2.5 million during the first OT on NBCSN. That doesn’t count the John and Tripp feed.

2019 STANLEY CUP PLAYOFFS DELIVER MOST-WATCHED FIRST ROUND IN 7 YEARS

Game 5 did a 6.5 TV rating in Raleigh... Pretty good for a game that ended up 6-0.

But but but but.......

They don't like Haw-key in Rawl-lee! Relocate them to Quebec where they will be appreciated ASAP!

I loved the shot of Waddell in his box after the GWG, celebrating. I’m more than sure he doesn’t pay attention to outside noise....but what an affirmation of a few controversial moves he made. Nice to see.

Yes, that was awesome. The watch he was wearing also looked awesome.

Well, that was a painful 11 hour drive today, leaving at 3am with 1 hour of sleep, but well worth it. Thankfully, Mrs. BBA took over driving at times she saw me struggling (no need for obligatory hotwife jokes, I know it’s a hangin’ curve)

Going to be interesting to see how the team recovers from not only the physical toll, but the emotional toll of a game 7!win as well.

Last night was sweet. Sitting next to these two unbearable Caps fans taunting me the first two periods was tough, but getting to scream in their face after OT was so bittersweet. Bring on the Islanders!

Help us enjoy this too. We would love to hear more about this--from the beginning of the game to the OT goal!!

This is how friggin' quiet it was in DC. Aho calling for the puck with his stick is the only real noise. Unbelievable.

When I first saw this reported I honestly thought someone had misread the press release. The numbers are bonkers.

We broke the previous record by SIXTEEN PERCENT. And that record had stood for 20 years, since back in the heyday of cable TV.

Guys......seriously......waaaaaattt the eeeefffffff

THAT WAS SO INCREDIBLE!!!

Ok so now that I have somehow recovered lol....I am 6 hours ahead of the east coast, I attempted to go to sleep really early in the day so I could wake up to watch the game. What actually happened was I was so excited that I couldnt sleep at all! I had to go to work at 6 the next morning and the game didnt end until about 515 (roughly, without checking again) so yesterday was a very long and rough day. I dozed off a few times, including during a very important meeting where I woke back up only to see 3 bosses of mine staring directly at me....wonderful ha! I went home and to sleep 2 hours later and ended up sleeping for TWELVE HOURS STRAIGHT (this is with NO medication or alcohol to assist in the process haha)

But.......

It was TOTALLY worth it to watch this game.

And here's another tidbit. I was talking to my brother (who lives near Fayetteville currently and grew up a Canes fan with me) when the Caps made it 3-1 and I told him I was headed to sleep. He was like.....why? I tried to make justifications and in fact had minimized the game as I screwed around on FB and such before my planned shutting down of the phone to sleep. I popped the game back up one more time just in case and what happened? TT scored! I knew in that second......something was different. How they looked when I pulled it back up vs how they looked after the 3-1 goal was scored.....i felt it. So as close as I was to giving up.....they proved me wrong and held me in it!

Bravo to these jerks. the emotion surrounding this team is so incredible. and its so amazing to see the outstanding celebrations they have.....yes those surges were great.....but look at what we're seeing now. REAL celebrations. real life raw smiles and tears and screams of joy, jumping into each others' arms (or sliding head first across the ice, looking at you Peter the Great!), and the handshake line......these are the celebrations they've been playing all year to have the right to have.

I LOVE THIS TEAM!!!!!

Funny how when the games get tight, Hamilton's ice time starts going away.

He played 11:25 minutes in first 40 mins, then played only 11:59 minutes in the 3rd + OT. Slavin played 21:50 over the same time.

Just look at the ice time breakout for Canes defenseman, this should tell you how overrated Hamilton is:

Slavin 38:27
Pesce 35:22
Faulk 35:00
De Haan 30:45
Hamilton 23:24
TVR 17:53

So despite having 3g 6p through the series, he's still played like a bottom pairing defenseman when it matters most. That should tell you all you need to know.

Couldn’t this just as easily be praise for Slavin/Pesce instead of Dougie sheltering?

It’s game 7 and “win or go home.” If your best pairing can go... why not keep sending them over the boards?
