After watching Darling's 2 appearances in preseason I feel pretty good about him being our goalie going into the season.

And were the difference maker in Edmonton. Slavin I think has been in coast mode because it's pre-season, but we saw glimpses of him turning it on tonight when he had/wanted to. I haven't been this pumped about a Canes team in a long time.

Sorry, but anyone watching this game -- and honestly, the entire preseason -- who doesn't think we need to trade defensive depth for forward help is kidding themselves. Our forwards sucked tonight against a very AHL Capitals lineup. Seriously, our seven best players were the six d-men and the goalie. Forwards turned the puck over, lots of passes in skates, too many battles lost. And this was basically our unit minus TT.

And zero in two games since then. What's your point?

And it's not just about the scoring. Our top-6 is just not NHL-caliber. I'm not sure how you can watch games and not come away with that conclusion.

Canes passes just aren't crisp tonight. Maybe it's the Caps getting in the lanes, but even the open ones seem to be off the mark.

They still haven't fixed that water cooler...why hockeye in the south cant werk.

this whole “make a very aggressive point while inferring that those who disagree are delusional” tactic is a bad look

comrade...our great leader ronnie franchises had said many a time he want to build from back end out. all our ds have 50 pt upside that is 1st line forwards.

Yeah. I do agree with Kev though that at some point a defenseman for forward trade will/should happen. The issue is timing for me. Is now the right time? or next year?
