Looks like Cleary is holding a spot for Datsyuk. So if Datsyuk plays he'd be on Zetterberg's line. Could be a way to spark Zetterberg.

If Dats can't go Tatar will probably move to the top line. Not sure who they'd move to the second, maybe Glendening... Cleary will be on the fourth line if he's in.

And do you understand that IF he plays on that line, he kneecaps the line something fierce? Why not have a player like Weiss up there on the 1st, it isn't like he's centering any of the lines. Who knows, maybe Cleary's posting on the 1st line for practice is a form of weight resistance training to improve the 1st line.

These are the games where the Wings have struggled immensely. They can beat the likes of NYR, TB, go out and dominate on West Coast, show us signs of excellence, then when they play low-tier teams it seems as if they don't know what they are doing...I don't see tonight any different based on some results this year and in years past. Carolina is going to come in and play hard, with nothing to lose. Wings don't fair well in situations like this. Bread is in the pudding.

So it seems Datsyuk has a very good chance of playing then.

Plus, Ferraro would be a better option than Cleary on the third line. Cleary and Weiss are kind of the same type of players (one more efficient than the other, though.)

But he isn't playing on the 1st line, that is why the term placeholder was used. It generally also means that player isn't even in the lineup for the night as well.
