Why is everyone so sure that Bowman is the odd man out here? I think he's done pretty well over the last few games.

Not sure if this has any relevance in the year 2013, but once upon a time Hall was really good at standing in front of the net on the powerplay and tipping pucks. Scored 10 PP goals in 05-06.

So looking at things once Ruutu's back in (at least what I'd do):

Sweet TEA line
Skinner - Jordan - Dwyer
Jokinen - Nash - Ruutu
Hall - Brent - Wallace
Westgarth, Bowman, LaRose (IR)

... something tells me that whoever was speculating that Brent might be on the way out in another thread may have been on to something. If Hall can work the draw effectively on the 4th line Bowman-Hall-Wallace is some decent meat, with the top 9 being pretty well balanced, or slot Dwyer in with the 4th and LaRose (once he's back) onto the 2nd. Options. But Brent looking like he's increasingly not one of them.

Agreed 100%. IMO (and probably Muller's) a 4th line center needs to be one of your top 6 penalty killers or have some other use beyond playing 6 minutes a night. Bowman - Hall - Wallace/Westgarth is quite the large 4th line, which is exactly what Muller asked for.

Is he expected to be able to get to the game by game time tonight? :sarcasm:

Those statistics Chip provided (152 hits and 55% face-off percentage) were actually from two years ago. Last season, Hall only played in 57 games but still had 89 hits and a 59.5% face-off percentage. This season, he has 28 hits and a 56.4% face-off percentage in 20 games.

Looks like, at the least, the team will get a solid boost in the face-off circle. Perhaps he could take Brent's spot as fourth-line center?

I doubt he plays center, but it never hurts to have extra guys who can take faceoffs.

Brent does not seem to fit in with a hard-nosed 4th line though.

There's nothing wrong with having an excellent faceoff guy stashed away on the wing. This gives Brent the green light to cheat on his faceoffs, knowing if he gets kicked out that Hall will be the next guy up.

Very good in the locker room and at the dot. He's nothing flashy but should be very useful for a playoff team, so I'm glad he's getting the chance to go to one.

He's been the odd man out for Boucher lately, but he was far from the problem in Tampa. Wish him the best.

looked pretty solid. finishes his checks every chance he gets, made smart and simple plays. he's already arguably the most well suited fourth liner. wallace and he make a solid pair, we'll see about brent being the center.
