THAT is why this team is so frustrating. When all 20 are dialed in, that's what it looks like. It's crazy how good they can be. I wonder what's holding them back.
I think part of it is, new players (Haula, Dzingel, Gardiner) who were expected to produce exactly as they did on their former teams. Plug and play is great in theory, except sometimes it doesn’t work right away. Or at all.

Obviously that was a complete game that we haven't seen much recently, but I'll point out again, we are now at a 109 point pace since losing a guy that was looking like a sure fire Norris candidate. No matter how much people want to **** on this team sometimes, they are good enough to lose a player like that, not always play their best while figuring things out, and put up that kind of pace. Last years team was special for a lot of reasons. This team may need to find some of that special feeling, but they are a damn talented team.

Similarly, I know we get a lot of pining for last year's Aho all the time around here, but man, he's been on pace for 57 goals and 96 points over his last 30 games. The recent streak has helped, but even before it started when he was on pace for 40 goals or so, I mentioned how great it was to have the level of production in a slump of a season.

From Dec 30th on. Over half the season. We also started the season with a hot streak. Our mediocre period last season is overrated in term, and imo how bad we really were.

Overrated in duration? Maybe. How bad? No, that wasn't overrated.

It was a 32 game stretch between 10/14 and 12/29. During that stretch Carolina went 11-4-17. 26 points in 32 games is a 66.6 point pace for a season.

December was the only month they were under .500.

Aren’t you missing the point?
