Philadelphia has the pieces in place to be a top contender this year. While I tried to add some scoring, none was available in a value trade. That said, with the experience gained last season for Hart and Farabee the Flyers should see internal improvement.

Being GM for Chicago was too challenging. Not being able to move the most tradable players made it hard to find real value. Several offers were reviewed, but ultimately none added value. Chicago signed Strome to a 2-year deal and called it an off-season.

Roman Josi - Ryan Ellis
Mark Borowiecki - Dante Fabbro
Urho Vaakanainen - Travis Hamonic

CAP SPACE : $4,986,667

TRADES
- Mattias Ekholm and Calle Jarnkrok for Urho Vaakanainen, Jack Studnicka, Ondrej Kase and BOS 2021 1st round pick
- Travis Hamonic (UFA)
- Matt Duchene and Ondrej Kase (50% retained) for Kaapo Kakko, Ryan Strome and Brendan Smith
- Jarred Tinordi assigned to taxi squad
- Matthew Benning claimed by the Rangers

We were very busy in Nashville. After real life additions of Granlund and Haula, we chose to not go with a rebuild. But we had a decision to make with Mattias Ekholm (regarding the expansion draft) and our first trade gave us a direction : getting younger while staying competitive. Vaakanainen will get time on the bottom pairing and adding Hamonic in free agency gives him a veteran presence, while solidifying our defense after Ekholm departure. Studnicka and Boston 2021 first are key pieces for our future. We didn’t stop there. Duchene is a great talent but wasn’t a good fit here in Nashville. We were able to add an elite young player in Kakko, and also a replacement for our second line center position in Strome. We aren’t losing much points production between Duchene and Strome, and we will gain a lot in the future with Kakko. We have a well balanced (youth and veteran) and deep team. Our fans should be excited, and more to come in the offseason with a lot of cap space to play with. Studnicka and Tomasino are also expected to join the team in 2021-2022.

CAP SPACE : $2,148,691

TRADES
- Tomas Tatar (1.5M$ retained) for Warren Foegele and Ryan Suzuki
- Paul Byron for ARZ 2022 3rd round pick
- VGK 2021 4th round pick for Cedric Paquette and TBL 2021 3rd round pick
- Jordan Weal assigned to taxi squad

Of course, credit goes to Bergevin for making this team a lot more competitive with the additions of Anderson, Toffoli, Edmundston and Allen. Romanov making the team is also an important upgrade to our defense. Our only big move in the game was trading Tomas Tatar. We didn’t have the cap space to re-sign him after the season and didn’t want to lose him for nothing. We are very happy to add to our prospect pool Nick younger brother, Ryan Suzuki. Trading Tatar gives Toffoli the top 6 role where he belongs. We really like Foegele type of game and we believe he will get the job done on the third line. We made some others assets management. Moving Byron was important as we can’t afford to have a 3.4M$ 4th liner. Paquette was a cheaper option, while being a very good fourth line player. We were also able to move up in the draft with this trade. We have a deep team and are ready to make some noise in the playoffs.

Not a lot needed to be done with the Blues. I signed Hoffman for more than St. Louis really did but longer, re-signed Dunne, and created some cap flexibility by dumping Tyler Bozak.

Vladimir Tarasenko starts the year on IR due to his shoulder, but with St. Louis’ depth, Jordan Kyrou and Robert Thomas can just play up the lineup until he’s ready to return. They should continue to be a contender regardless, and when healthy, have a helluva forward group:

Schwartz-ROR-Tarasenko
Hoffman-Schenn-Perron
Sanford-Sundqvist-Thomas
Clifford-Barbashev-Blais
MacEachern Kyrou

Krug-Parayko
Scandella-Faulk
Dunne-Bortuzzo
Gunnarsson

Binnington
Husso

Jacob De La Rose

We traded away Paquette and McElhenney for cap reasons. Replacing them with cheaper options in Corey Perry, Ryan Miller and Craig Andersson. We got back a 4th and a 5th in the upcoming draft while giving away a 3rd. With the cap situation we were in, we are very happy not to loose any core players and not giving away any high picks or valuable prospects.

You should have gone for Victor Mete, who's somehow being scratched in favour of Joel Edmundson because size.

Edmundson is gonna play over Mete, I love Mete but there's a limit to what he can do in the defensive and offensive zone.
I'm sure you ask Carey who you want on the ice between Mete and Edmundson he's gonna answer the latter.

But yeah! I agree would have been a perfect fit but was not very active in the GM Game, managing it took more time than I thaught it would!

We are upset that we didn’t qualify for the playoffs. With only 2M$ in cap space remaining, we have no excuses. We really thought that we could battle with every single team in our division and it wasn’t the case. We expect a change in our coaching staff.

With that being said, it was also an important year of development for some of our key young players, like Suzuki, Kotkaniemi and Romanov. We expect big things from them in 2021-2022.

We will try to improve in the offseason with three priorities, which may not be all possible due to assets available and cap space. We are willing to part with our 2021 1st round pick, and one of our top LHD prospect in Norlinder or Harris. In fact, every prospects could be available except Caufield (and maybe Guhle).
  1. Get a top pairing LHD.
  2. Upgrade on Warren Foegele on the third line. Looking for a 40-50 points LW to play with Danault and Caufield.
  3. Upgrade on Drouin as a top 6 LW.

In the offseason, we will be looking to acquire a solid top 9 LW to play with Studnicka and Tomasino.

After the expansion draft, we would also like to add a top 4 LHD.

Assets available include Scissons, BOS 2021 1st, other picks except our own 2021 1st, and prospects.

We are open to pretty much anything, we will have a lot of cap space to play with.

We will be active in the offseason but likely not much before the expansion draft. Our plans will depend of the player that we will lose to Seattle.

Very hard to make the playoffs with the habs in these games because they aren't perceived as a playoff team IRL.

Yeah, not a huge surprise. But I think that big changes will be made in real life if they don’t make the playoffs in 2021.

I'd be able to join something around the end of January, once finals are done.

All of those options sound cool, although I enjoyed the auction draft in particular.
