somewhere in between.
1/2 a PPG player is a 2nd liner.
rangers have depth he can play anywhere and be effective. never been interested in moving him. he's a unique players...unique guys are tough to find.
He's the type of player you win with. We should NOT consistantly trade our great depth for supposed "gamechangers" that turn out to be underachieving "superstars" time after time.
He played almost 24 minutes last night, far more than any forward a lot of which were killing penalties, yet he never really showed fatigue.
He has also found a way to make the NHL's visor mandate completely ineffective.
If he had hockey IQ he would be a sure-fire Hall of Famer.
The main board is a cluster****. In the Rangers-Kings Final thread a Kings fan claimed that the rangers would be the slowest team that they faced yet, gaborik is still a speed demon and hags and kreider aren't good players. Not much hockey knowledge in So Cal.
It's one, though. On the old NYR official board there was a poster who for the longest time after the lockout felt that Montoya was a better goaltender than Lundqvist, if he was ever given the chance, and that Hollweg was a more important player than Jagr. "Heart and soul guy." Turned out a few years later he was a crazy anti-immigration nut. Filled up the pages with threads about how awesome Giuliani was and got booted.
Point is, one guy doesn't represent a fanbase. You wouldn't have think Ranger fans had a high opinion of Henrik if Snowblind's posts were the only ones you saw.

Okay, what is going on with Hagelin? He was such a bright star last year and then after the St. Louis trade he sort of fizzled away. (EX: I had to search this forum to find the Hagelin player discussion.)
I was thinking of asking my kids for a Hagelin jersey for Christmas but I don't want to get one if he's gone at the end of the year.
Any thoughts on his future with NYR?

agreed. Hagelin, Kreider and Stepan are must signs....i'd be willing to let MSL walk in favor of keeping these 3.He's a versatile, defensively responsible player that will net you somewhere between 30-40 points each season while playing in all situations. While he may be ideally suited to a third line role, he has enough skill to play on a higher line without being a detriment. To me, he's pretty much a perfect middle-six player and I hope he's here for a long time.
He's RFA at the end of the season, so barring a trade, you can count on him being here next season. My fear with him is that he'll hit free agency and someone will offer him what's realistically a substantial overpayment. I'd like to lock him up for multiple years before that can ever happen.
As for his play this season, he's been up and down. You can say that for most of the roster though. Hopefully he settles in soon.

even then I think if you told MSL that, he'd probably take a slightly larger discount than expected to keep the team together, especially considering we are playoff-and most likely cup contenders
