He has also found a way to make the NHL's visor mandate completely ineffective.

career 95 pts in 184 gp

42 pts/82 GP

somewhere in between.

1/2 a PPG player is a 2nd liner.

rangers have depth he can play anywhere and be effective. never been interested in moving him. he's a unique players...unique guys are tough to find.

Yup. Legit 2nd liner.

He's the type of player you win with. We should NOT consistantly trade our great depth for supposed "gamechangers" that turn out to be underachieving "superstars" time after time.

Yup, and players like Hagelin become more necessary when some of those so-called gamechangers come up short in the playoffs. Hagelin and Boyle came up huge last night on the PK while some of our skill players were floundering on the PP.

The main board is a cluster****. In the Rangers-Kings Final thread a Kings fan claimed that the rangers would be the slowest team that they faced yet, gaborik is still a speed demon and hags and kreider aren't good players. Not much hockey knowledge in So Cal.

It's one, though. On the old NYR official board there was a poster who for the longest time after the lockout felt that Montoya was a better goaltender than Lundqvist, if he was ever given the chance, and that Hollweg was a more important player than Jagr. "Heart and soul guy." Turned out a few years later he was a crazy anti-immigration nut. Filled up the pages with threads about how awesome Giuliani was and got booted.

Point is, one guy doesn't represent a fanbase. You wouldn't have think Ranger fans had a high opinion of Henrik if Snowblind's posts were the only ones you saw.

I still remember "Prucha is better than Crosby"

He really stepped up for the team in the play offs. I'm proud of what he's done because I've gotten down on him a lot in the past for having no hands. Thanks Hags!

Middle six forward that plays big in the playoffs....love it! Can't have too many guys like that.

Add to it, he's one of the fastest guys in the league, make him all that much better!

He got a world class motor and his speed causes problems for the opposition.

Love having him around. I hope he's here a long time.

I don't think Fast is much like Hags at all to be honest.

Fast has a considerably better shot but is not close to the skater Hags is.

I do think they compliment each other well. Hags can setup Fast

Okay, what is going on with Hagelin? He was such a bright star last year and then after the St. Louis trade he sort of fizzled away. (EX: I had to search this forum to find the Hagelin player discussion.)

I was thinking of asking my kids for a Hagelin jersey for Christmas but I don't want to get one if he's gone at the end of the year.

Any thoughts on his future with NYR?

He's been incredibly disappointing to me this year. Speed and agility can only get you so far. The decisions he makes with the puck are incomprehensible sometimes.

He's a versatile, defensively responsible player that will net you somewhere between 30-40 points each season while playing in all situations. While he may be ideally suited to a third line role, he has enough skill to play on a higher line without being a detriment. To me, he's pretty much a perfect middle-six player and I hope he's here for a long time.

He's RFA at the end of the season, so barring a trade, you can count on him being here next season. My fear with him is that he'll hit free agency and someone will offer him what's realistically a substantial overpayment. I'd like to lock him up for multiple years before that can ever happen.

As for his play this season, he's been up and down. You can say that for most of the roster though. Hopefully he settles in soon.

agreed. Hagelin, Kreider and Stepan are must signs....i'd be willing to let MSL walk in favor of keeping these 3.

even then I think if you told MSL that, he'd probably take a slightly larger discount than expected to keep the team together, especially considering we are playoff-and most likely cup contenders

id tend to agree with this...but how big of a cut remains to be seen. is he willing to go from 5 mil to 2 mil?

id doubt it, but that might be whats needed to keep this team together.

Hagelin IMO has been fine. He's been entrusted to work on a line with two kids and they should all get better if the three stay intact in the lineup.

PK specialist. Very valuable. Also can score a fine goal every so often.
