Price will kill Habs 2 year window if he asks for more than 8. They need a hell of a lot of money elsewhere.

We will see. If he does not sign at 8 this summer than he probably doesn't give a **** or believes in winning a cup with Habs.

He could command 10 if he wanted to. This organization at times has relied on him almost entirely to get to the playoffs.

He's been head and shoulders the best goalie in the league for a few years now. Not only is he going to want to be paid accordingly and he'd get heat from his own union if he took a sweetheart deal. Lundqvist makes 8.5 so expect Price to get between 8.5 and 9. He'll want to be the highest paid goalie in the game. My guess is it will be 9 mil. As for it "killing" our window, MB did that all by himself. You can't expect Price to sign up for 5 mil, it doesn't work that way. And why the hell would he since our GM would just spend it on some other Andrew Shaw type?

You pay your top players and try to win that way. That's how it's done. It's worked in Pittsburgh and Chicago. You get elite players and build around them. If we can't handle Carey Price making 9 mil a year then there are other problems with how we've managed the cap. If he asks for 12 mil a season and you want to make the "he doesn't care about winning" argument, do it then. But at 9 mil? That's going to be pretty much the standard for superstar players going forward and Price has certainly earned that.
