Hank in every conceivable way. Price is one of the most overrated players of the 21st century.

"He dragged a team to the Finals" and then got shellacked for a sub .900 save percentage in that series. While you get a trophy for second place, it's an ugly one.

Still remember when NHL players voted for Hank as the world's best goalie 10 years in row?

No you don't, because they voted for Price.

I'll say what I've always said about these guys, same class of player. I think Price was better but Lundqvist was healthier. Both played on poor teams and deserved better. Two outstanding goalies.

If you look back on all the best goaltenders, longevity tends to be the more difficult achievement relative to peak. And their peaks aren’t all that different anyway.

Lundqvist had better longevity by a decent margin.

Lundqvist contributed more to his team over the course of his career.

lundqvist was the better player but the question is who had a bigger impact on their franchise so i'd have to go with price.

This is tough, because the question is "who had the bigger impact" and not "who had the better single season" or even "who was better".

Price clearly had the higher peak and more international success and was the more talented goalie, but in terms of positive impact on the ice over their careers, Hank being in net for so many more games makes it no contest, in my opinion.

But, in terms of overall impact, I get stuck on the question of whether Price being injured so much, forcing his team to play much worse goalies (Budaj, Niemi, Condon, etc) in his place for so many more games, while also costing $2m more against the cap, leaving less money to build a team around him, had a greater negative impact on the Habs than the Rangers benefited from having Lundqvist as their rock in net for so many years.

So, I said evenly, even though in very different ways.

Depends on how big picture you wanna get here. I think Price on a season to season basis had a bigger impact on his team for better (during his peak) or worse (during his turbulent years). But I'd say Lundqvist was just as much the heart and soul of his Franchise as Price was. Price had a bigger impact, but Lundqvist had a longer lasting impact due to having a longer prime. I'm gonna go with "Both Evenly"

To stray a bit from the question into a bit of a tangent, if I had to pick a goalie for my franchise, I'd rather have a steady plateau as opposed to higher peaks and lower valleys. What makes Henrik so great in my eyes is that his peak was comparable to Price (albeit, still decisively lower IMO), but he was so consistent on a season-to-season basis that he felt more like a solid foundation to build around. I do believe Price at his peak was more valuable to his team, and it's not his fault that he suffered the injuries he did, but Lundqvist was so reliable that the difference between their peaks was small enough to tip the scale regardless. If I had to pick a player for a full regular season & playoff run, I'd take Price. If I had to pick one of them to have on my team for a decade, I'd take Lundqvist.

Two very good goalies who would be afterthoughts had they not played in League favoured markets.

Lundqvist never makes the Hall of Fame with the same stats and international career if he had been a Nashville Predator for his whole career.

A a Gold Medal winning five time Vezina nominee/one time winner is 100% getting in regardless who they played for.

Did Price have more international success? Hank and he both won an Olympic gold, but Hank did it behind a much less stacked team. What else are we talking about when we mention international success? World Championships? Juniors?

I agree it's pretty close, but my logic was that Price won every tournament they both played in, while also winning the World Juniors. I was really just trying to keep the Price fan boys from jumping down my throat.

And Hank's Olympic team in 2006 was still pretty stacked, with guys like Forsberg, Lidstrom, the Sedins, Alfredsson, Sundin, Zetterberg, etc. on the roster. The next tier of guys were maybe a step below Team Canada in 2014, but most of them were at least still legit NHLers.

I'm sorry but this is just moronic. He was spearheading a team that had no business even being in the playoffs and was up against prime Kucherov, Hedman, Stamkos, Palat, and a bunch of others. It was a non-playoffs team vs a cup winner, of course, the result would have been a complete blowout in one direction. The fact that they made it even that far is a testament to his strong play.

Price also won every single individual awards a goalie can win in his life, aside from the Conn Smythe (he almost got it) and the Calder

Everytime his team won something, he was the MVP of that team

He also was named a bunch of Time the best goalie in the World by both the players and the media

It would be dishonest to Say that Lundqvist ain't in the same tier as Price, but Price did as good as Lundqvist playing behind a team that was Much, Much worse

It’s Price by a mile. Lundqvist is one of the most overrated goalies ever; Price too, but Hank never had to carry the junk he did

The Rangers scored 7 more goals than the Habs over these 10 season's. (2,137 vs 2,144). Posters suggesting Price did more with less are completely clueless and don't know what the hell they're talking about.

Both offense's were equally pathetic. Almost identical. So No. Price was not as good as Lundqvist with Much, Much worse. That's an asinine, lazy statement.
