I think this is a very solid deal for Svech, and if he continues to perform well (and improves), it will be well worth the money, especially on eight years.

Svech has 140 points through his first 3 seasons. Nylander had 135 points. Marner had 224.

Marner is a dumb comparison for Svech. If you insist on comparing Svech to a Leaf for some reason, clearly Nylander is the apt comparison.

Svech is a work horse plays well at both ends of the ice and dominates the puck. He doesn't put up as many points as Marner but that isnt the only way to determine a player's AAV (I know weird concept).

So like it or not Leafy fans, it is absolutely making Marner's contract looking like crap, especially because you could argue Svech is a more valuable player already.
