If you think the solution to stopping players from chucking knuckles or throwing their body hard at our own players is to do the exact same thing to them, but harder, is the solution...then you are out to lunch.

It doesn't work well, at all.

This is a league problem to solve. Not a self-policing thing to do, and self-policing has NEVER worked out in the history of the NHL. Self-policing only escalated/escalates the problem.

Enough with the revenge-porn fantasies veiled as something else. We know you just want to see violence. Every time someone tries to disguise it and be like "I'm not advocating all-out fighting, but..." it just ends up being that the person actually does want fighting and clapping cheeks.

You're speaking for yourself on this one. I watched violence in the form of a caps player trying to and very nearly splitting a guys head open on ice covered concrete. I would feel some gratification seeing Wilson get some teeth knocked out by an elbow or stick, it would be a crude form of justice, something apparently not available in any other form.

Hitting and fighting doesn't really do anything for me. Players get challenged to fights after clean legal hits.

My opinion is I don't think its fair to this player to have to come up and fight for the 'pride " of the Team , when he really isn't part of this group ... If he was a regular player it would mean more ...

I would bet anything that if you asked Geertsen, he would give anything for the opportunity to come up and play a game and showcase his toughness. These guys have given everything they have to get into a position to make an NHL appearance, I would highly doubt he would be anything less than thrilled if he were given this opportunity.

Unless you have a Sean Avery or equally scummy player in the lineup, there is no way anything like that happens. I would get 3 players to force Wilson in to 3 fights (or 3 fights split between Smith and Rooney. Maybe have K'Andre just use his size to wrestle Wilson). 3 fighting majors = a game misconduct and the check the F out of everyone. We have nothing to lose now. Even if we aren't a tough team, that's an actionable game plan. If Wilson only gets into 2 fights, and he won't answer the bell, he's neutered. Our revenge is to damage the team and put them through hell so they limp into the playoffs and lose again, but intentionally injuring someone (which maybe you didn't mean it that way) is not the way. Give them their bruises fair and square.
