Ugh. The formation itself wasn't the issue with the powerplay. Not liking these desperation changes.

If they wanted the change up the formation, they needed to do it wholesale, not this half-changes. The powerplay is built around Ovechkin at the left circle, pulling him out of the left circle just makes it a sub-optimal version of the powerplay. Let alone these moves from Kuznetsov that leave Backstrom on an island with one passing option.

I was thinking the same thing. Something is wrong with Oshie..he cant skate right now. He looks out of shape but he has been back long enough that conditioning should not be a factor.
