Standard hockey etiquette. Throw your head back = telling the ref you got touched with a high stick.

Not sure why it's different for throwing yourself down on the ice like an ass after another player makes contact with you, but it is a different deal.

I cannot recall ever having seen an unsportsmanlike penalty called on the fake throw-the-head-back-on-a-high-stick.

And that's hardly "very convincingly." It was a blatant dive.

Yeah, in slow motion. At real game speed, with where Richards' stick was, that gets called every time. The same can't be said for something like Moore's cross check, which seems pretty damn similar to what they'd called Chimera for earlier. Or that two many men cluster**** in game 3. Or Ovie's charge, if they'd been paying attention.
