The problem is bigger than Wilson. From the media to coaches to the league itself. **** needs to be overhauled.

The old guard needs to die off. There's an archaic mindset of chest thumping, stuck in the 80s bullshit that won't ever go away.

Can't have Malkin with 4th line talent out there. 1st line is scoring at all time great level, will they broke that up? Kessel is completely useless right now

As for Wilson how many games?

History within eighteen months, including more than once and including this year.

Broken jaw, two concussions on borderline hits in two games, three in the last nine. And the player knocked out for the year with a broken jaw on an illegal (DOPS's words) hit to the head will be a consideration.

Kadri got three, I am thinking at least that, likely five to send a message.

Thoughts?

1 Game. Kadri's was really stupid and obvious it was retribution. Wilson's recent questionable hit history won't factor in as much as it should because they were deemed legal.

Hags back should help. If he is actually back.

You said Holtby is outplaying Murray and I was just pointing out that wasn't the case in game 1. Game 2 I thought goaltending was close to even and last night Holtby clearly had the edge. For the Pens to win Murray needs to be consistently good every night though. We agree overall. I just think Murray has been pretty solid on the whole, but he needs to be better than that for the Pens to win when their secondary scoring is struggling this badly.

Yeah, I don't know why people think Murray had a bad Game 2. The only one you kind of wish he had back was the Connolly one. But it was a breakaway, and NHL shooters make goalies look "silly" on those quite often.

Game 3 was the only game this series where you can say Murray dropped the ball.

Wilson will get one game, max. Only because of the injury to ZAR and the fact that he was heavily scrutinized in the previous game for another super high, super dangerous hit.

NHL's gotta cover its ass and do the absolute bare minimum.

Honestly the nhl just needs to eliminate any subjectivity in the matter... x gets you suspended or fined x1 the second time its x2 the third time its x3 and so on... tge only subjectivity on dpos should be to add to a penalty for clear intent or really really bad actions

Everybody expected Pens to threepeat in 1993.
And they were potentially one goal away from doing that. There's a lot of luck involved in hockey. It wouldn't be outlandish to say that we probably shouldn't have beat the Craps last season, but we were on the right side of some positive breaks and beat them in a 7th game. You can't expect everything to go right every season. It just doesn't work that way.

Yeah, both teams are playing the games. And at this point they are all very good. These series can come down to some very small margins, even in a 5 or 6 game series.

That zoomed in view should be all the evidence one needs to make the guy sit for a while. This is an obvious pattern and he's trying to drive up into the head. Yeah he's tall and big, but he continually drives his hits upwards instead of through and it's obvious why he's doing it.

Damn ZAR got blasted in the face. Dangerous, reckless, and infuriating.

Caps probably should have won last year. And that team will likely get smeared if they are against Nash or Winnipeg in the finals.

Also, somehow Ovechkin who a percentage of this board criticized as “never showing up” (lol) is doing his typical playoff thing and being a dominant scoring force.

Yep...

Multiple offender. Check
Literally had a similar hit in question the game before. Check.
Video evidence. Check.
Serious Injury. Check.

So I expect a fine with no games. Because the NHL DOPS is a joke.

You can literally see ZAR's jaw dislodge. It wasn't a shoulder to shoulder hit. They didn't bump heads. Wilson went full-on shoulder to jaw, and launched up into ZAR's face.

Well that’s good and different than another tweet I saw from Mackey saying he was out there in a non contact jersey..

Edit....Unfortunately about 45minutes later Mackey tweeted that he was in a no contact jersey..

One more McGuire question

Did he mention Wilson leaving his feet?

He stated that it looked like his right skate was off, left was on. Which is what I saw, as well.

What ncm said.

Are people really blaming Letang for the GWG?

Don't have to blame Letang for the GWG to see he is a massive liability out there.

Yes. He's head and shoulders our best dman.

Brian Dumoulin is our best defenseman. This era, last era, the era before that and the era that will follow. Hockey has changed but it has not changed to the point where a clearly brain-dead defenseman can use his physical gifts 100% of the time and get away with it. In the playoffs, you win with defenders on the back end. We did it with Gill-Scuderi in '09, we did it again with Dumoulin-Hainsey last spring. If you don't defend, you can't win.

It's too bad the November-December trade rumors petered out. We would have picked up a true defender and/or maybe kept Cole. But what's done is done. Hopefully, JR won't let another chance to deal him go by this summer.

Our offense does not depend on 58. It's a luxury for the offense, at this point, to have him back there, and a total liability to have him on defense.

Was 2016 the lone year where Caps did not injure one or multiple Penguins players? Or have I forgotten something?
