This is the big problem. In games that matter like this, (playoffs) their playstyle does not suite it. They're too slow and one dimensional.
Just, no words.

It's kind of relevant though.
Most of us love the Sedins and always will. I just think that we - whether some will admit it or not - know deep down that these guys aren't going to lead the Canucks to a Cup. They're still some of the best players in the league and could very well be part of a Cup run, but I don't see it in these two to lead the charge when the chips are down.
The thing that sucks is saying things like this looks like Sedin hating. It's not. I've got two H. Sedin jerseys that will remain with me until the day I die because I love and support he and his brother. I'm just calling a spade a spade.
TRYING TO DRAW A PENALTY!!!!???? There was 1:31 left in a 5-2 game! It was over!!!! There was absolutely nothing to loose by punching Marchand back. Marchand isn't a thug either, he is a cheap rat who happens to be smaller than Daniel and yet Daniel lets this midget rat punch him in the face 5 times while he just stands there and takes it all so he can draw a penalty! This is the same guy that submarined Daniel with a cheap hip check at the end of game 4!
That was one of the lowest moments in Canucks history, Daniel just letting someone punch him in the face and not doing anything about it except yell at the ref after for not calling a penalty with 1:31 left
Imagine being on the bench and watching one of your top players get embarrassed by the most hated player on the other team and not fight back at all. That would be so deflating as a player and it was definitely deflating as a fan.
The Sedins don't have to turn into fighters but at least throw a gloved punch back or a hack once in a while. If someone was doing that to Bure in 94 he would have stood up for himself and done something cheap back and he wasn't a fighter, or Linden who rarely scrapped wouldn't have put up with that.
It's completely irrelevant. You aren't watching tennis or golf where it's an individual vs another individual.
It's the weirdest mindset in North American sports. Hockey is a team sport. It's been a long time since one guy could "lead" a team to a cup.
EVERY player is part of a cup run. I hate to burst peoples bubbles, but the media glorifies certain players and everyone mindlessly follows in on the hoopla. If you want to look at hockey, look at Jonathan Toews for example. People pretend he can "lead" a team to victory, when in reality, the last cup win they had he ended up with 3 goals. (Brian Bickell had 9) Yet when you hear about him he's a mega warrior who does everything to win. No **** the guy has been on incredible teams. Good player no doubt, but on great teams. He has NEVER had to "lead" a team to victory. He, like every player in history is a part of a team.
Crosby is the best player in the world but even he can't "lead" teams to victory. The year Pittsburgh won the cup, he was completely shutdown in the finals. If it wasn't for Malkin, or Fedotenko help Detroit wins. Is Crosby then known as a choker?
How about each of the last two Olympics. Crosby was one of Canada's worst players all tournament both times. If others around him didn't step up, there's no way he gets a chance in OT. None.
Hockey is a team sport. The cup finals is a tournament. Like any tournament certain players get hot. The one key thing you'll see on every team that wins that cup is SEVERAL players stepping up their play. The biggest issue the Sedins have- they don't have much support in Vancouver.
They don't have Kane/Hossa/Sharp/Keith/Saad to light it up when they are being keyed on by opponents. They don't have Williams/ Carter/Gaborik/Toffoli/ Doughty etc either. With the Canucks, all you need to do is shutdown the Sedin line and it's over.
No the twins aren't the best players in the world. But this notion that they can't lead a team is completely idiotic. Flip them around with cup calibre teams first unit pairs and they do most likely the same thing for those teams. Conversely, Vancouver is in trouble if they had 60 point Kopitar and 42 point Gaborik as their first line pairing instead of the Sedins.
calling the Sedins one dimensional is so disingenuous.
