Confirmed with Link: Canucks sign D Matt Bartkowski to 1-Year Deal ($1.75m AAV)

Vancouver, B.C. – Vancouver Canucks General Manager Jim Benning announced today that the Canucks have signed defenceman Matt Bartkowski to a one-year deal.

Bartkowski, 27, spent the 2014-15 season with the Boston Bruins, collecting four assists and 37 penalty minutes in 47 games. He has appeared in 131 career games with Boston, recording 24 assists and 77 penalty minutes.

The Pittsburgh, PA native was originally selected in the seventh round, 190th overall by the Florida Panthers in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

Really high level skater, physical and decent defensively.

Consistency is his problem. Can struggle defensively when he loses confidence. Can be a good top 4, or a #6-7.

Advanced stats are pretty good.

So Bartkowski is a 'bad player' yet Stanton is a good player?

Advanced stats certainly do not back this up.

2 years ago, Bartkowski was a nice top 4 defenseman for the Bruins playing 20 minutes a night.

This is a good signing if it's in fact a 1 year deal. Nothing to lose, something to gain.
