God I hate Chiasson. Just a total waste of a roster spot. A PP specialist on a team that doesn't need a PP specialist dragging down every line he's on. You can't have a high-energy 4th line with that useless slug on it.

+1

A "power play specialists" whose sole task on the PP is planting himself in front of the net so the skilled players can bank shots off him.

Back on waivers

I like his forecheck in limited minutes

But Green being the worst coach in the NHL still prefers Chiasson

I hated watching Bailey play this season. 6'4" 210+lbs and he constantly loses puck battles. One of the fastest skaters on the team and he doesn't forecheck with the intensity of Lammikko. It's like he's trying to play like a top 6 player without a playmaking C feeding him pucks. Everyone sucked on the PK but he also sucked. All he does is move to side to side with his stick close to his body. He should be like a condor out there with his size and speed. I think I've only seen him break up a pass once or twice.

I remember going to a pre-season game between the Sabres and Pittsburgh some years back. Last pre-season game. Beyond laughing at Kessel sitting at the end of the bench huffing and puffing after every shift the only other thing I remember is how bad Bailey was. Now he's obviously better but he's a call up option and likely shouldn't be a first or second one of those.

I still hate Chiasson more
incredibly slow, always the last man in the zone, can't do anything in the neutral zone
he struggles to even gain center ice on dump-ins he is so slow.

At this point, Bailey is an AHL-NHL 'tweener, and at 26, that's about all you're going to get.

He has all the tools to be a decent penalty-killer and a third-fourth line energy guy. But as other posters have pointed out, he's held back a lack of intensity. And his penalty-killing is let down by some bad reads at times. And has hands of stone at the NHL level.

But on the positive side, he looks like he could be a consistent 20-30 goal guy at the AHL level, so hopefully he'll make a difference in Abbotsford.

I don't even think he is a tweener. I think he is a straight up AHL level forward that doesn't belong in the NHL in any capacity at all.

I've said this many times, I'm not a fan of Chiasson but he's definitely better than this year's Bailey. I don't have to like the player to acknowledge his staying power. Chiasson knows what type of player he is and doesn't stray from it. He's basically a big bodied winger with some finishing ability. He's slow but his hockey IQ is fine. He's not a defensive liability. He's a decent 13th forward option. He just seems out of place in the NHL with the focus on playing fast even if the slower player leads to more effective results.

Reminds me so much of one of Willie's boys - Emerson Etem - look like they could be twins the way they play. Neither of them has a lick of hockey IQ but look impressive running around the ice at high speed.

Remember we traded to NYR to get him for Jensen and a 6th and the only thing of value turned out to be the 6th.
