Subban is small and isnt sound defensively. You cannot be a top 4 NHL dman if you are a liability in your own zone. I dont value a pp specialist which is what he is basically projecting as of now to be our top prospect or even in our top 5.

These guys all have warts in their game. Boeser has issues with his skating, McCann is a toothpick, Virtanen can't think etc. Why would Subban's defensive issues be any harder to overcome?

Also, he has 55% of his points at even strength.

He is short, though, I'll give you that.

Enstrom is also short... who cares. Subban has been able to effectively transition to both NHL pre-season hockey and the AHL. I see no evidence of him being a PP specialist. Also, you can most certainly be 'weak defensively' and still play in the top 4. You just need to be exceptional at moving the puck and creating offense. If you're never spending any time in your own zone, it doesn't really matter how bad you are at it.

Voted McCann, but I really like Boeser. McCann, Hutton, and Virtanen are practically graduated prospects though.

Thats the entire basis of being a defenceman, if you arent good at defence you are useless. Defence issues isnt something you can just learn over night, since he is small he wont get position on people. Which means his positioning will be more important than anything else. His iq needs to be through the roof. Boesers skating is passable and skating is one of the easiest things to improve. Same with putting on weight. How many dman in the NHL today are 5'9 and under? Torey Krug.
