Depends. If we think Virtanen's goal should have counted, then the league should be trying to get it right the next time rather than relying on poor precedent.

No, they should be enforcing the standard they have already set or face criticism for inconsistency. I don't understand why this is so hard for people to understand. And if they got the Virt goal wrong then issue a statement clarifying the standard so teams and fans know what is allowed and what is not. Mysteriously and randomly changing the standard is not acceptable.
