It wasnt because we couldn't afford him.
I think Demko signing was just a better option younger and showed last spring he is ready it made good sense to not go 6 yrs on Marky .
It wasnt because we couldn't afford him.
we could only keep one..so yeah..I think Demko signing was just a better option younger and showed last spring he is ready it made good sense to not go 6 yrs on Marky .
yep. Trading Markstrom last year would have totally crushed the teams' morale. Then in the offseason, Markstrom was demanding a NTC, and whether we trade Demko or lose him to the ED, we still get stuck with the aging goalie whose game falls off right when the team should be at its peak. Cap problems and the ED were the real issues, but the decision made during the offseason was absolutely the right call.It wasnt because we couldn't afford him.
Another Aquaman tweet
Because one of them would have been most likely claimed at the Expansion draft. Why?
The sutter and Eriksson stink more than made up for themCompletely forgot Beagle and Roussel were out. A combined 6 mil.
Their replacements Jayce Hawlerwhatever and Marc GermanMichaels make a combined 1.5mil skating around like Roussel does.
If this team continues with Benning and Aquilini as GMs....you at least hope they see that.
There's still people @Get North who believe you need to pay $3MM for garbage veterans to suck.Completely forgot Beagle and Roussel were out. A combined 6 mil.

Such a dumbass. That stellar goaltending is literally the ONLY reason we beat the worst team in the league tonight. Take off the beer goggles Duffman.
And to think of all the hand-wringing over Benning not re-signing Markstrom....
When both goalies were being ass, there was plenty of moaning about we should have re-signed Markstrom over Demko..The flip flopping still continues .People keep saying this, but their wasn't that much hand-wringing maybe in hindsight when both goalies and team were being ass
Stop putting things in people's mouth.
People were generally upset (though again this was tied to how free agency was handled) that instead of allocating Markstrom's money elsewhere we signed Holtby to a slightly lower cap hit, albeit shorter term. If they truly believed in Demko why sign a declining goalie to starter money?
Their was also the mixed messages sent to the core about competing and letting 2 huge team leaders leave.
I thought we would sign 2/3 of our free agents and we ended up with 0. If their was any hand-wringing it was over that, not to mention the fact all of them felt disrespected by the organization because we were chasing the albatross that is OEL
Well I am pretty sure the game film exists......so....
