Draft Rules and Criteria

• The draft will consist of 7 rounds, Order of draft is: Picks 1-14 are determined by the draft lottery choices; 15-30 is determined by which teams get knocked out of the playoffs quickest; Teams still playing will be assigned draft positions based on regular season point totals.
• Draft order and draft previous draft pick transactions will be referred to from this site: http://www.prosportstransactions.com/hockey/DraftTrades/2010.htm

I'm in need of a little help of determining the draft order or picks 15-30. Can anyone help me out a bit? I know that the Cup winner, Finalist, and two conference finalists are seeded 27, 28, 29 and 30 but I'm having trouble remembering or finding the correct info to determine the draft order for the teams seeded 15-26.

I think we can give San Jose and Boston their series, and assume the team with more points in the regular season Piitsburgh and Chicago will be the conference finalists.

Any help would be appreciated.

With the first pick in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, the Edmonton Oilers are very pleased to select, from the Windsor Spitfires, Taylor Hall.

We believe Hall will be the best player from this draft in the future, and the best fit with the Oilers.

With the 4th pick in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft the Columbus Blue Jackets select from the Windsor Spitfires Cam Fowler.

We believe his combination of size, elite skating and offensive prowess gives the Blue Jackets a high end offensive defense man

The Carolina Hurricanes are pleased to select, from Moncton of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, defenseman Brandon Gormley

Brandon%20Gormley.jpg

Statement from JR: "While we weren't, uh, sure which way the draft would go after the first two picks, Gormley was a player that we did not expect to be available at this point. He has great vision, great skating and Skoula-esque puck poise. He is likely to be a top pairing defenseman for us for a long time and may be able to make the jump as soon as next season."

Atlanta has been PMed.

*** (if montreal wins, anaheim from philly is 15th, montreal drops down into bottom 4)
15. Montreal?
16.Anaheim (from Philadelphia)* (very likely)
17.Ottawa
18.Colorado
19.Buffalo
20.Nashville
21.LA

----
26. Washington
27. ECF Loser
28. WCF Loser
29. SC Loser
30. SC Winner

for the remaining teams:
NJ is 23rd if detroit advances, 22nd if not.
Phoenix is 23rd at the highest, 25th at the lowest (detroit and vancouver moving on)

too many possibilities to list the teams still in it (other than montreal/boston/philly[anaheim] getting the high picks if they lose)

as for the picks so far:
- pretty easy first two picks, i think edmonton made the right decision.
- love connolly going to florida, but wonder if this isnt a 'picking for position' situation.
- while i personally like gudbransson more than fowler now, columbus getting the choice of either is great for them, and i dont think there is a wrong choice.
- i personally dont like nino going this high, and think gormley has to go before him. Even after that, i think a few of the russians, and even his teammate johanson should be picked before him. Due to the russian factor, he should slot in around 7 or 8 in real life though, so its not a stretch.

3 picks before 15th now, and montreal poses a problem. Not so much for teams below them (all would only shift by one), but for montreal winning/losing this series is the difference between picking 15th and 27th.

im the MTL GM, i don't mind waiting before making my pick to see if mtl beat pitt or not ? its up to you guys. it would make it more realistic but some of you might not want to wait until wednesday/thursday if theirs a game 7th

im the MTL GM, i don't mind waiting before making my pick to see if mtl beat pitt or not ? its up to you guys. it would make it more realistic but some of you might not want to wait until wednesday/thursday if theirs a game 7th

I think I'm leaning towards waiting until tomorrow to see who wins game 5 of the PIT-MTL series and then I'll probably give the winner of that game the series so we can continue on past the 14th pick.

If anyone object to waiting please post in this thread to let me know. The draft has been moving at a good pace and i see no reason why we need to rush it just in favour of getting it done quicker.
