Six of them happened to be in the last three seasons. Stempniak is the type of guy that's only been commanding 1 or 2 year contracts recently, so he's been a decent medium cost playoff rental.

Because at various points in time, ten NHL teams needed him. I would chalk that up to being a good thing. In fairness though, he's a consummate tweener in terms of role. He's not a Top 6 guy on a team with cup aspirations, but he's a good hand anywhere you put him in your lineup. It's a rare trait. Modern Mike Sillinger.
