Gotcha. Still sounds funny to hear the two lumped together with respect to losing, though.
I get that. I guess it's kind of like MTL fans. They haven't won in ages but have the most cups, yet newer fans won't care about that.

Still, I'm glad I got to see both teams win a championship in my lifetime.

As a Browns fan I also know the feeling but it was the opposite for me. They were good most of my childhood then started the suck of all.suck.

Also Lindy Infante. For you Packers fans. Kozar sure did miss him when he left.

Antti Raanta cares not for save percentage, only fat dubs.
I don't care about it in the regular season, apart from shutting out two of the worst teams in the NHL he has been constantly bad-horribble.... I'm fine with it for now but come post season I don't want a sub .900 goalie with lapses every game in net, vs good teams he's giving up 4 every time.

Hey guys, congrats on the win.
Long time no see. I'm done with the Panthers until PM is gone; can I bandwagon with you again for this year? Good luck either way the rest of the season.
Chanting "MO MOST GO" is one of the most Caniac things you can ever do. Welcome.

Have I missed any stats posts about Jesper "6 points in the past 6 games" Kotkaniemi? Feels light

Ppg Kotkaniemi is a thing. Deal with it.
Some people worry about small sample size. I celebrate it.

Best OT I’ve seen in a long time. Two top of the division teams going at it, and It was fun to watch. Hughes is amazing, both goalies stole the show. Great game.

Absolutely….we found the right spot for him in the lineup...

What's great about this run is that the Canes aren't relying on only a few guys to score like they did at the start the season. Necas, Svech, Staal, Noesen, KK and Martinook all have 5+ goals over this stretch.

I still would like to see an upgrade at 2C. KK is performing great in the role he's in now. Stastny is kinda "meh" as a 2C. Will wait and see what happens when Patches enters the line-up first.

Last 17 games: 15-0-2

Kotkaniemi: 5G, 10 points
Martinook: 5G, 10 points
Pesce: 2G, 9 points

Some more numbers. Of 53 NHL goalies with > 500 min. 5v5 toi.

5v5:
SV%: Kochetkov .937 (3rd ranked); .915 (32nd ranked)
GAA: Kochetkov 1.63 (1st ranked); 1.89 (4th ranked)
GSAA: Kochetkov 0.52 (4th ranked); -.06 (32nd ranked)
HDSA/60: Kochetkov 8.08 (26th ranked); Raanta 6.31 (5th ranked).
HDSV%: Kochetkov .894 (4th ranked); .857 (17th ranked)
xGA/60: Kochetkov 2.23 (5th ranked): Raanta 1.88 (1st ranked)

Seems to pass the eye test for me. For the most part, the team plays a bit stingier defense in front of Raanta. Both are doing fairly well against high danger snots, but Raanta is giving up more goals that are medium/low danger chances.

Kochetkov has been doing well in all situations.

* NOTE: this is 5v5 so doesn't account for the shorties that we gave up against Philly.

Are you aware of how they classify low/medium/high danger chances and who decides which bucket each chance goes into?

The 2C thing seems to be a pretty glaring issue, and I’m curious if we think we need to do something about it based on current success. We were a very good team last year, and we were better than we are now at that position and we cracked in the playoffs. You would assume we know that this current success means nothing in the playoffs. Patches can help the pp, but it would be taking a chance if we rolled with that we have at center assuming our wings can make up for it. Goes against “standard” hockey thinking about building down the middle, and we obviously don’t mind doing that.

I suspect it's just location of the shot, but no, I'm not sure how they classify it.

Excellent research Boom Boom!!
The boys play in waves of energy that fatigue the opponent.
Nice to see KoKo on track. He's finding his place on the 'Canes.
