From the OHL, I'd expect the following contingent.

Forwards:

Matia Marcantuoni
Brendan Gaunce
Scott Laughton
Sean Monahan
Matthew Campagna
Chris Marchese

Defensemen:
Slater Koekkoek
Alex Gudbranson
Gianluca Curcuruto

From the OHL, I'd expect the following contingent.

first a couple of things

1) this is the world under 18 championship not the Ivan Hlinka which is run in August.

2) all players have to come from teams that are not playing in the playoffs or the first round losers as this starts April 14 and most of the better players are still playing in the playoffs. So Canadas teams are not as strong here are they are in August.

Okay, I know the difference between the Spring tournament and the Summer tournament.

The subject of the thread pertains to the Ivan Hlinka, hence the presence of that very name in the title of the thread. So, I selected the best 1994s I could think of from the OHL.

Yes I know the difference too, theres a reason I made the title what it was and used the words "top u18 team" and "this summer" in the original post

I think Mackinnon has the skill, but do you think he will be invited?, being a 95 and all

I doubt MacKinnon will be invited. I'd be very surprised if we see a team that isn't entirely '94s. MacKinnons not a Crosby and hes probably on par with a Stamkos at this point and hes not going to be picked a year younger.

Marcantuoni will be Canada's top forward unless something changes.

MacKinnon was one of the best player at the u-17 as a 15yo. he was dominant on a weak team againts the top94s in the world (minus russia and sweden)

i think he deserve a shot at least to be in camp and see from there.

MacKinnon will get snubbed and the best '95 in Canada (the world) will get invited instead in Lazar:sarcasm:

For the dub you can add Troy Bourke and Hunter Shinkaruk to the list.

Im slightly concerned about the quality of 94's compared to the rest of the world.

Only one kid with over 50 points, Hudon, and when I saw him play, you noticed his size really held him back.

Looking at past U-18 rosters, here are the players who scored 50 pts in the CHL rookie season:
2010: Puempel, Nugent-Hopkins, Jenner
2009: Seguin, Skinner, McFarland, Connolly, Spooner
2008: Schenn, Hall, Ellis, Duchene, Glennie, O'Rielly
2007: Stamkos, Eberle, Del Zotto, Pietrangelo, Beach (excluding eligible Tavares)

I realize points arent everything, and that guys like Huberdeau, Couturier, Kane, Kadri have emerged after average rookie season's, but its pretty telling that all the players who compete for no 1, at least hit the 50 point block as rookies

Reilly made the U18 team so I'd be surprised if he was the 7th D.

Still don't think MacKinnion will make the team, we'll see, but the Ivan Hlinka is a lot diffrent then the U17s
