I wish the Oilers had one above average offensive minded Dman to get him the puck... and a right winger who has a decent shot (to get him a bit more open ice).

Too bad AM got injured, I think that despite the hot start McD would had scored more than AM over the full season...

Of course he could. Matthews doesn't need to play for us to conclude McDavid could score more than him. They are both extremely good at what they do, anything can happen

McDavid is overrated on here. Surely, he’s the best player in the league. Nobody disputes that.

But people on here spewing sensationalism is kinda ridiculous, saying he can score 70 or 80 goals. The most he’s ever hit is 41.
And I think most would agree that is his floor. 50 this year easy. Wins scoring title this year by +10 points.

Exactly. Before the season began, I was predicting that either Matthews or McDavid would win the Rocket. Now that Matthews is out for awhile, McDavid will win both the Art Ross and Rocket. 50 goals for sure.

Not this year. It's just way too hard for him to get the puck from his d-men. Maybe 1-2 years later after Bouchard is ready to be out there for 18+ minutes per game consistently.

Before Crosby ever hit 50, I remember people discussing who the next person to hit 50 would be. I think Gaborik was the most common answer, and barely anyone (possibly zero) said Crosby.

Players this good are not the ones you want to bet against.

I think he gets 50 this season (assuming he stays healthy).
I think once in his career he could even hit 60.

If you're down by 1 goal with a minute left in the game, I wouldn't bet on anyone putting the puck in the back of the net before McDavid .

60 is pushing it, but possible.

70 and 80 as others suggest is mindlessly exaggerating.
Have seen enough of McDavid to know at his absolute best he can outpace Ovechkins 65. Will he get there? Probably not.

If he can finish more on his 3 breakaways a game I think so

I see Mcdavid having a peak season of around 55-60 goals and a couple 50 goal seasons and a bunch in the 40 goal range. Not typically known as a goal scorer but he will put up ridiculous career totals.

Who cares if the team he is on goes nowhere? It's hilarious how the 'tradionalist' hockey mindset about the team being more important than the individual gets conveniently tossed aside for some.

I dunno, the Oilers look pretty good this year. Especially when we put the boots to the Preds.

Not McDavids fault his team is Trash. Worst roster in the sport if you took him off the team.
