Buffalo is fielding one, maybe two NHL quality defenseman tonight. When healthy they should have arguably five or six. Boston is nowhere close to that

It doesn't mean as much looking at the original Buffalo roster....

Anaheim and Boston are the two teams battling the most through injuries.

well, we (Ducks) have had so many injuries, that when Bieksa got hurt, we actually missed him!!

Ducks and Bruins are both getting brutalized. Coming into the season I thought they were the two most under-rated forgotten about teams and were my choices to meet in The Finals - (I also thought Getzlaf and Bergeron would both be Hart nominees, or close, this year) - great that both teams are treading water and hopefully will remain in the hunt and be healthy at some point this season. I think, if healthy, these are two of the best teams in the league.
Just wondering if we'll get to see it this year.

p.s. I almost miss Ryan Spooner.

So far this year Bruins have lost Bergeron, Krejci, Marchand, Backes, Rask, Krug, McQuaid, Spooner - that's pretty much most of their core.
Honestly - Chara and Reily Nash are the only two veterans they have that haven't missed multiple games. The next two on the list - Kevan Miller and Pastrnak would be your 4th most experienced player that hasn't missed games.

Yeah the Ducks are getting butt f***ed by injuries.

But we know this was a possibility, when you have a list of injuries going into the season, that doesn't mean other injuries can't happen. Especially on a team like the Ducks who seem to have a pile of injuries every year.

Could be a blessing in disguise long-term. Shortens their window, but on the other hand they could use a long rest to get up and running again and lay it all out in 18-19. Might as well do it properly, instead of having a half dozen guys playing hurt every year.

I seriously doubt the current roster can keep up a respectable record for 2 months. They've been able to respond because the Ducks have high standards, but once you start failing in games you normally win, suddenly "we suck" feels kick in and then it's all slide from there.

If they can hang on for a couple of months and then turn it on with a healthy roster and make the playoffs, im impressed.

I’m not an Anaheim fan. But they’ve been without their top two centers for essentially the entire year. You at least have Bergeron back now.

Finally, Pittsburgh isn't one of the most injured teams in the league. Unfortunately, they are playing like they are missing half of their line-up still.

- but lost Marchand.

but ya, - I definitely think The Ducks have been hit worse (or just as badly) this year.
Been awhile since we've seen teams hit this badly this early. We're not talking a player or two... it's half these two teams line-ups that are missing. 12 games in - the players who've missed time because of injury would be the Stanley Cup favourite.

Based on this graphic, Buffalo, St. Louis, Anaheim, and I think Chicago have more man games lost than Boston.

A couple of games ago they said that only the Ducks had it worse so far in the season. But I get a feeling that we might be in sole possession of #1 now. Hope we weather the storm, somehow.

On the brighter side (as in knowing why this is going on), one Leafs fan in another thread said - in reply to me mentioning the Bruins injuries this season - that it was normal because our player are over 30. Gotta be that. /s
:biglaugh::biglaugh::biglaugh::biglaugh::biglaugh::biglaugh: But hey, if that HF skewed "fact" of our roster being all over 30 works for someone than who am I to judge?

You would probably need to consider the player’s that were missing too. A 4th line forward or a 3rd pairing defenseman is a man game lost, but it’s not really the same as a top line center or top pairing defenseman.

That was pretty much, Tampa's season last year. This year they have only lost Cedric Paquette who is due back likely next game or the next weekend. Rest of the team has been healthy missing no time. You lose one or two players team can get by, but losing several players either at once or different times of the season will hurt any team. So feel for the Bruins, well not too much. Heh heh.

Sabres can't compete with the Ducks and Bruins injuries but when you're a rebuilding team with little depth it hurts more, Sabres in recent years have been among the leaders in man games lost. Sabres don't give out injury info, frustrating not knowing why your players are out so long.

Bogosian (months, who knows)
Nylander (months, who knows)
Beaulieu (weeks, who knows)
Ristolainen (missed last few games, who knows)
Gorges (weeks, who knows)
Falk (weeks, who knows, back now)
Rodrigues (months, wrist/hand)
Josefson (weeks, who knows)

Indeed. :)

Onto other amazing "truths"... Once someone (you can guess where from...) in here told me that Toronto fans are more knowledgeable than any other fan. I keep on trying to verify that, but somehow it always ends up in a disappointment... ;)

Bruins missing due to injury for tonight's game against the Wild include:

Krejci (upper body, just placed in IR)
Marchand (upper body)
Backes (2 month recovery after colon surgery)
Spooner (2 months, groin adductor tear)
Accari (fractured finger, started skating)
McQuaid (2 months, broken fibula)
Khudobin (minor, undisclosed)

All of these players are in the starting lineup when healthy.

Why is Boston allowed to start 7 players?

The Ducks have had it worse than anyone and yet continue to chug along.

While not as many or as big names as Boston. Buffalo has had massive problems with injuries to the Defense. Right now we have Ristolainen, Bogosian, Gorges and Beaulieu out. All four are starters (Gorges is borderline 6/7). Also have Justin Falk out though he's close to returning. That makes it 5 out of our top 8 Defenseman out..... That hurts alot.

They've used down to their 11th defenseman due to the injury situation and have been playing 7-8-9 guys like Tennyson 2nd pairing minutes. That much AHL on the backend makes for a long night in their own zone. Heck, Falk is playing first line minutes opposite Scandella. Falk, who should be at best their #6.
