No, it's 'not the way it goes.' Dubas is an idiot. He's going by Sparks' play in the AHL and the fact he's young - and he has to tell his boss that he has a 'goalie of the future' or good young goalie prospect so he went with Sparks.Agreed, the only thing that changes based on Kyle's decision is who's our backup. Our depth was always going to be destroyed no matter which goalie he chose. Have to think the 35 year old, who was our waiver pick up two years ago, would clear over two younger goalies with AHL success, didn't happen and that's just the way it goes.
Sparks had a horrible camp. Several fans here said his position and reads were bad. Myself included. Pickard hardly had a chance and he has proven in the NHL! that he can play. It was obvious he would be picked up. Less so about McBackup but at least he has more NHL experience but he wasn't much better than Sparks in this camp. Still, they went with the young goalie because ....he's young. No other reason. Now, they are going to overwork Andersen AGAIN. At least, for the early part of the season. Sparks is not ready.
