Drafting.....we have always been a bit leery of Nill and company "going off the board" with draft picks. I think he is secure with ownership. A more scared GM might be tempted to draft by the rankings, just so he wouldn't be blamed if the pick went wrong (like the old reason to buy IBM)

Examples include Gurianov who was nowhere on anyone's draft screen, but they made up for it with Rope in round 2.

Wyatt Johnston was a great example, but he worked out, and the Stars still got first round value in the second round with Stank, much as they did with Robo 4 years earlier.

Even Nuke was seen as a reach by most.

I really don't know who they brought in for scouts after 2016, but drafts have been uniformly better than even in the beginning of Nill's tenure.
