LaxSabre - Its not a gold medal but if its possible, it would be awesome if the Buffalo Junior Sabres could get Jonas Enroth or Hank Tallinder (who were members of silver medal winning Sweden Olympic Hockey Team) or even both of them to come out to one of the upcoming playoff games and drop the puck too! (Maybe if we are down, you can sneak one or both on the ice! - I'm kidding! )

Go Junior Sabres! End the series tonight! Would be awesome if not only they but Canisius, Niagara and RIT end their first round playoff series tonight as well. Cool that your going with the team - yeah I think they do have Wi-Fi as one of their fans (?) tweeted some updates of last weeks problems with the zamboni. Won't be to follow along LIVE tonight however as I'll be at the Bandits game at the FNC. Hope I get hear/read about a series clinching win when I come home.

Thanks for the kind words - sorta get carried away some times but hey it keeps me busy and I like doing it. Want to get to some games over at Northtowns Center (next round hopefully!) before ya guys make the move over to HarborCenter. Going to be tough getting to games next season as I'll be in the area enough with the Bandits and Sabres - season ticket holder for both. Hopefully you plan to do some double-headers with Canisius and/or with the parent Sabres. (Junior Sabres game in the afternoon, an hour or so break and then Canisius/Sabres at night.)

Rick and Rob just promoted the Junior Sabres and their second round series on the Sabres broadcast - unfortunately Rick mentioned that the Fridays Game #1 is at the Northtowns Center and not the First Niagara Center. (I think he did say the correct time though)

Burg, maybe you can give someone with the Sabres a ring and Rick/Rob can make the correction later in the broadcast. (I did send a tweet to the Buffalo Sabres)

Edit - 10:00 pm ET - Well the correction wasn't made - hopefully noone decides to head to the Northtowns Center instead of the First Niagara Center because of the error. (and if they do, they arrive early enough so they leave and can get to the FNC in time for face-off.) Go Junior Sabres!

Buffalo, NY - After letting a puck squeak past him in the second period, Joseph Pianta stopped all other 39 shots he faces to lead the Buffalo Jr. Sabres in their 4-1 win over Georgetown in Game One of their Ontario Junior Hockey League second-round playoff matchup at First Niagara Center. The only goal Pianta allowed, by Liam Clare at the 8:40 mark, gave the Raiders the game's first lead.

Just 50 seconds into the third period, Buffalo tied the game when Nolan Sheeran completed a 2-on-1 pass to Darren McCormick, who put the puck past Raiders goalie Michael McNiven.While Georgetown took two consecutive penalties, they kept the Jr. Sabres' power play from creating any serious scoring threats. Buffalo did take the lead, however, at even strength at the 8:00 mark when Dylan Howatt set up Pat Egan's goal.

Michael Ederer then increased Buffalo's lead to 3-1 at the 16:37 mark, when he took a pass from Ryan Kuhn and used a Raider player as a screen to put his shot in. Howatt added a late empty-net goal to secure the win. McNiven finished the game with 33 saves. Game Two is Saturday night at the Alcott Memorial Arena in Georgetown, beginning at 7:30 pm ET.

The Raiders were led by goals from Liam Board (scored at 6:32 of the first period) and Steve Hladin (game winner at 6:19 of the third period) with Michael McNiven making 32 saves for the victory. Buffalo was 1 for 6 on the power-play while Georgetown was 0 for 2 on their power-play chances.

You'll probably be able to see the potential #1 pick in the coming OHL Draft, Adam Mascherin, play in this series now that his season is over.
He joined the Raiders full time after both the minor midget and midget Vaughan team were eliminated in the GTHL playoffs and played with them until the OHL Cup last week (the reason why he did not play the first two games of this series), scoring at a goal per game pace.

He has a bit of Drouin in him in the sense that he's a pure scorer who is smaller but stocky and very hard to knock off of the puck due to his agility and edge work.
Should be a very exciting to player to watch at the junior level.

Buffalo Falls To Georgetown After Surprising Comeback - Buffalo Junior Sabres Website - Wednesday, March 19.

Undaunted by a three-goal deficit, the Georgetown Raiders battled back to claim a 6-4 victory over the Buffalo Jr. Sabres. Georgetown let multiple leads slip away before eventually digging out of a three hole to pick up the win. The Raiders took a 1-0 advantage on a goal by Anthony Marra at 27 seconds in the first period. Georgetown found itself down 4-1 after Buffalo's Nolan Sheeran put the puck home at 9:34 in the second period.

After evening things up at 4-4 on a goal by Steve Hladin at 9:06 in the third, the Raiders got the game-winner from Steve Midensky at 15:03 in the third period. Marra had two goals and two assists to lead Georgetown. After the loss made the series score 3-1 in the best of seven series, the Jr. Sabres face elimination next time out which will be Saturday evening at home at the Northtowns Center - game time is 7:50 pm ET.
