In essence that third year still has some steep dead money

Just looked again. If they were to cut him post June 1st next year - it MIGHT be feasible. Still carries 25m dead cap though. So while he doesn't suck - it makes sense to keep going with him. They absolutely had no choice this year either way.

Pitts might be the best player in the draft too - so nobody can hate that pick.

2005 may be the great ever draft for mid-tier QBs that lasted in the league forever:

Alex Smith, Aaron Rodgers, Charlie Frye, Kyle Orton, Dan Orlovaky, Adrian McPherson (in other leagues), Derek Anderson, Matt Cassell, Ryan Fitzpatrick
