So many bar takes in this thread.

Lehkonen isn't a negative asset, teams see that he was a middle 6 winger with good defensive numbers prior to this season. He's young, he's effective on the PK, he just got replaced by a 30g scorer.

Byron is still an effective NHL player. He's overpaid yes but he's not a huge negative asset. Lots of good players with a bit of a cap hit went on waivers for cap purposes this year. Yes the Habs would need to add a sweetener to have it taken, no it's not going to be a lot. Byron had a fine pre Covid contract.

Habs would not make this trade. Habs lose this trade heavily. Piling on exaggerated negatives on Habs players doesn't change that.

To montreal : Taylor Hall (3 millions retained) and Brendan Montour. To Buffalo : first pick Mtl, Ryan Poehling, Tomas Tatar and Paul byron. What do you think about this one? Tatar doesnt move the needle in playoff, Hall could be more useful. Montour could play LD with Weber. First pick montreal should be around 20/25. Poehling is doing great in the A
Sure, why not. It would at least give Buffalo some NHL players in return.
Tatar and Byron might actually be useful for Buffalo too (although I’m sure they’ll eventually start sucking once Buffalo sinks their claws into them and breaks their spirits...)
