Sorry, I wasn't aware that hockey players could control their trajectory mid-air while leaping to avoid a knee-to-knee hit. They're more talented than I thought.

You're wrong again. The portion I'm talking about was not "mid air". I am talking about after his right skate HITS the ice.

In other news, looks like Zetterberg might be back soon. I can't see him being much of a factor with the long layoff and bad back. Hopefully Aflie is ready to go as well, it'll only help us :naughty:

I love how cocky scabs fans are getting, I want to crush their hopes and dreams.

I feel like Alfie is a registered Bruin killer

Not sure I want to see him back int he lineup even if he is in Detroit now

Even if he doesn't contribute much ... he is still an important piece and leader to this team.

The Wings played so much worse without him in game 3. Obviously he is not THE reason but I believe he was one of the reasons.

Man the habs fans WANT to face us next round. Please please let this round be done in 5. All I want in the world is to pound the red/white/blue. This feels like a cruel appetizer.

I like our odds against the Habs, I feel like they've overachieved in the first round due to some favorable reffing and injured TB stars, and I know it would be fun, but my heart is just not ready for how stressful it will be haha

Seems like Alfie is cooked though, I think his Bruin killing days are over. Either way I'm confident we can finish out this series.

Here's to hoping the scabs are rusty and feeling way too confident like their fans. Nothing would make me happier than beating those arrogant mofo's in 4 but that might be a little too much to ask for. Next round is going to be crazy, can't wait.

I think I would almost prefer opening in Montreal instead of Boston, the Bruins were just not ready to go in 2011,obviously we came back but I hope they don't take Montreal lightly.

Right, hopefully they learned not to underestimate anyone. As long as the KIL line shows up I like our chances, Krejci hasn't even shown up yet. Just make Subban look like an idiot when he does that spin-o-rama move, he's prone to turnovers.

I will never forget how he gave up against the Pens last season. His comments were not a leader's comments. I could never imagine any Bruin doing that no matter the situation.

Hoping the toilet seats take next round lightly. I want them to believe there own hype. Didn't face a second of adversity last round.

Boston still has work to do to meet them though.

Keeping in mind we had the flu in 2011 I think the lack of readiness can be somewhat excused.

I think the mods on the boards will need a lot of liqueur to deal with a Bruins/Habs series.

2011 was pretty bad but I think a second round match up would reall bring out the trolls.

Bring it on though-would rather have that match up than watching some other teams in the second round wondering what happened to my Bruins.

Assuming the Bruins eliminate the Wings, I can see them steamrolling the Habs in rd. 2. Not since 1992 have the B's met the Habs outside the 1st Rd. Given this groups historically slow starts in Rd.1, they should be up to full speed by Rd. 2 up against a Hab team with a full week + layoff. If the Bruins can weather the 1st period storm the Habs employ, they can't keep up that pace a full 60 min and the Bruins can just wear them down.

Matt. I've been reading all the comments.

In the one end zone view (the one you said was horrible) does it not look like Smith finishes his check, as in he puts he weight in the leg that marchard hits?

You don't see it as well in the other angle.

Have a look let me know what you think.

And unless I am totally not seeing it, it looks like BM is trying to get out of the way. Only my opinion.

That is how I see it too.

I am happy Brad did not get hurt too bad.

I think he'll be ok.

you've always said your seats are right next to the bruin bench? how much can you see in the other end?

are you first row or second row?

his right skate hits the ground and then he lunges forward rather than falling naturally. it is what it is. i'm not downplaying that he then landed awkwardly after doing that. he's lucky he didn't do damage to himself.

falling naturally? he got clipped going really fast on ice skates and his center of gravity was massively shifted in an instant... that is falling naturally.

Row 2...on the tunnel where the B's come out. Right next to the B's backup goalie.

We can not see the corner because the B's tend to get in our way. We can see both goals. We can see the B's bench very well. :). In the many years I have been there I have learned when to look at the Jumbotron. If I stand I can see the whole rink.

We see and hear quite a bit. I love watching the interaction of the players and the expressions on the player's faces.

I understand fans who would rather sit up higher to see the plays develop but I love my seats.

Just stop... he never toe picked. He never landed on the other knee. You can see he didn't do either clearly in the below gif. He embellished a call to go for 5 minutes on a play that should have never been a penalty in the first place.

Marchand.gif

Thank god it wasn't serious. Good god.

Just like Number8 posted, look at Marchand's right leg as he lands. It whips down and out really awkwardly. I'm so sick of all the contrarians refusing to see what's right in front of them, just so they won't be accused of being a homer.

This.

I'm not saying that Smith's hit was clearly intentional like Cooke's was, because I don't believe it was. However, from all the angles I have seen, if Marchand does not exhibit unbelievable body control and reflexes that is not a Boychuk body check. Smith instinctively sticks the leg out, and that's a full knee on knee with 63 likely suffering some serious damage.

I laugh at a lot of these people who have probably never even been on skates trying to say that it's possible to alter your course and shift your body weight like that, get clipped, and not go for a serious tumble. I'm pretty sure after those acrobatics that embellishing was the last thing on Marchand's mind.

See, I don't care even if he did try to play it up. It was still a trip. It was still a play that would have resulted in a penalty being called. So even if he did embellish, it doesn't change the fact that it was an illegal hit. It all comes down to the toes lifting up. That shows me no matter how slight, Smith was stretching his leg in order to make contact. That constitutes tripping and it was correctly called. Nothing else about that play matters.

yeah I wish I could edit .gifs so I could pick out the exact frame where you see his right knee hyper-extend.

Im not doubting Brad embellished it (especially since he came back so quick), but if he did get a wicked stinger, I can see how it could be the right leg more than the left that clipped Smith.

Lots of work to do against Detroit yet. Let's not get too far ahead of ourselves here.;)

They are so delusional...

They faced the only team that they had a chance to win. End up playing their backup and their D was nowhere to be seen. No adversity. No defense. No physical play. Looked like October games against random bottom feeders.

They are for a rude awakening when their playoffs start against Bos/Det next round.
