I think Kappy is good enough defensively to help Nylander.. But that's just me. Brown has proven more though so I get that.

So long as Matthews is out, I wouldn't mind getting an extended look at a Nylander-Kap duo.

Next year Kappy -- Nylander and Brown might be a line.

I think Leafs 1st line... depending on if it's Nylanders or Kadri's. . Will make a big difference. I'd go Kadri's against Bergeron. Then after that I think our lines... even without Matthews... We are better on the 2nd 3rd and 4th line. Boston has a better defence. The goaltending almost every time I would say Andersen but Rask has been great too.

So long story short... Kadri plays equal to Bergeron line... I think we have a good chance of winning.

Agreed with Kadri's line against Bergeron's tonight. It would be a pretty big jump to go from the wing to playing against one of the better two way centers in the league. Let him face against Krejci and Spooner.

Love the answer

Me too.

I get that Babcock's stubbornness can be painful sometimes but man he handles the media so well. I love it.

I'm not sure if I'll ever get tired of listening to Babcock speak.

A lot of crow to be eaten tonight if Leivo plays. I don't know how many times I've see people post that he will never wear a Leaf uniform again. I always liked Leivo, I hope he has a great game tonight and is a regular for us next season.

This game is gonna be interesting. I'm looking for the Leafs to make a real statement here without Auston....and they don't necessarily have to win to make that statement.

Legend:

Letter Grades = Quality of Competition measured by opponents' time on ice, Converted into Letter Grades for simplicity
p60 = points per 60 minutes
CF% = Corsi For Percentage (i.e. shot attempts for percentage)
xGF% = Expected Goals For Percentage (i.e. shot attempt percentage adjusted for shot quality) - this stat is already adjusted for zone deployment and game score
In Brackets = CF% and xGF% relative to team
dsv% = difference between save percentage and expected save percentage

Exactly. I should of mentioned that but 100 % agree. Also last time Matthews got beat up bad by the Bergeron line. Obviously with him being hurt that isn't possible tonight for round 2 of that matchup. So to me that's the most interesting part of tonight. Although Matthews needs to learn to play against the big boys... it'll be good to see how Kadri does. It'll help the Leafs to decide come playoff time what there best option is.

This is big in a lot of ways, Willie now gets a good run at center, which will impact our future moves, no doubt. Leivo will also get a long stint, again it will impact what we feel we need to do next year, if he's successful. Pretty interesting, short term and long.

It’s nice, but like with Kap and Leivo, not sure why he wasn’t given more of a look at C much earlier

Pretty sure it as been confirmed (saw on twitter) that Leivo is most definitely in.

I also agree with an earlier poster, Kapanen and Brown should be swapped.

I would think Babs goes pretty hard to get Nylander away from the Bergeron line tonight.
