Assuming the Bruins even have interest, I don't know what they could give to make it work with the cap, but it's not going to be one of their actual and current top 4D. I'm sure they would rather not have Toffoli, and just go with what they've got. The Bruins are hardly desperate. They're coming off Game 7 of the Final, and are currently sitting at the top of the league. Toffoli hasn't scored a goal in the playoffs since the 2014 conference final.

If you can extrapolate after 13 games, can I just cut out the first four and do the same while chalking it up to a dreadful team starting hot?

Toffoli responded well to sitting a game. If I felt he'd respond just as well to being awful for the past 100 games, I'd hope the Bruins acquire him.
