Every year, there's at least one or two players that you secretly (or not so secretly judging by some of the reactions from the people as they pull the name out of the envelope) hope you don't get. Honestly, this year, I can't think of any......unless they ice half the Providence Bs team maybe. For me at least, there really aren't any unlike-able guys on this team.

Here's a pro tip if you do win it - as far back as I can remember since they started doing this, it's always done in numerical order, with the exception of Z coming at the end. I imagine that's for the ease of Jim Martin announcing the players, and so players have an idea of when to put their t-shirt cannons away and when to skate over to the winners row.

Jeff Israel of Bruins Twitter fame won last year - he got Schallered, but AFAIK, he took it in good humor. I can't say that I'd like a Kampfer as much as a Bergeron, but...if I won, I'd definitely take whoever I could get.

The game should DEFINITELY be Providence/Syracuse heavy, unless we're fighting for home ice. There may be a few Bs in suits giving "game-issued" jerseys instead of game-worn.

i just fired up Dafoomie's vid of the 2014 ceremony, it went 11 (Soupy) 12(Iggy) 17(Looch) and the girl with the 3rd envelope didn't even pull out the card before Martin announced it was Looch, so they definitely just do it in order. Makes total sense, it would be a gong show if the cards were random, especially with the kids involved.

I got Petteri Nokelainen years ago ( I wanted Muzz) but it was fine. I took it home, washed it and wore it to the next game. Nokie gave me a smile and a nod.

They are quite large to accommodate all of the padding they wear.
I imagine the smell is pretty bad when you first get it :confused:

I remember the 2016 ceremony - everyone wanted to get that over with as fast as possible. Exact opposite of 2013-4, when we won the Presidents’ Trophy.

It’s one thing to lose - on average, that happens exactly half the time. Losing when you’re locked in a spot, locked out of the playoffs, or even if you fall down from 2 to 3...it’s not bad.

That year, our loss meant an unsure fate. It wasn’t as bad as an immediate execution, but....I figured we were unlikely to get help from the Flyers, and we didn’t.

And there’s a LOT of “lag” between the reading of the names and opening of the envelopes - definitely “rigged”, so to speak.

Are these spots all raffled off? Or do most go to season ticket holders?
They claim it's random but with the exception of 2 or 3 jerseys, they go to people in the Loge.

There are always a raffle winner or two but there has been a few times where someone specific is chosen to get a particular jersey.

Jeff Israel had a damn campaign last year to get Schaller's jersey.

I gave up thinking I'd get a shirt off their back a long time ago.

When I was a STH, I did get a signed Horton jersey but interestingly it coincided with an incident I had where some drunk fell a few rows and landed right on top of me and kicked me in my shoulder getting up.

I believe it USED to be more random. NOW it is for the folks who pay the highest bid.

I knew fans who got jerseys who were in the balcony so it wasn't just the loge. That was before they went to the fan who can bid the most $$

That's a shame. It ends up not being an actual appreciation of the fans if you have to pay money for it.

Has anyone here ever won and gotten a jersey? I feel like we've had 2-3 over the years win....albeit nobody great but...figured I'd ask...

edit : got some answers so far..I thought LadyFan won it once....anyone else?

Shame it'll probably be P-Bruins lineup that last game haha

The pictures are so uncomfortable to view

The awkward level can indeed be high.

Every time I see the actual shoulder/elbow/back pads I wonder how in the world they skate around. It all looks so uncomfortable to me.

I'm pretty sure that it's still a chance drawing, with the exception of one or two slots that is raffled off.

While I'm sure the "chance drawing" is rigged in favor of the loge somehow, it's not a highest bidder gets a jersey scenario.

I'm sure some jerseys are raffled off (like in Fenway's OP), and maybe some are directly for charity? I mean, c'mon, you couldn't blame them if they gave Patrice's jersey to one of Patrice's Pals (he buys a suite for most of the games and gives it to a hospital/charity for kids).

I don't know how they distribute the other "random" jerseys, and other prizes. Definitely feels like more loge than balcony tix get the jerseys...maybe they weight it by seat price? Bonus for tenure?

Did Jeff Israel actually campaign specifically for Schaller's jersey? I think the Bruins twitter/social media folks gave it to him, probably partly because he changed his screen name to "Positive Bruins Fan" for a year - promised not to say anything bad for a whole year if they re-signed Pasta, I think. I don't think he campaigned for the jersey - just made up some cutesy "my best friend Tim Schaller and me" stuff.

One year at Fenway they gave away a car at Fan Appreciation Night and you had to be at the park to win it.

When Sherm said the winner was is in Section 602 there was a lot of booing as somebody in the new 600 Club had won.

I remember him openly lobbying for Schaller’s jersey when they did the random giveaways last year (I enjoyed my free tickets not going to lie) and he was “chosen”.

I get they try to make money for charity off of at least one or two of the jerseys and maybe give one or two to a kid that they met at the hospital but for the rest, they really need to keep it even between the loge and balcony. It shouldn’t matter how much you paid for your seat.

It’s one of those experiences every fan would love to have but it seems like every year it gets more and more predictable.

They also need to stop with the numerical order stuff when handing the jerseys out. Mix it up so you don’t get someone already pissed that they get Steve Kampfer’s Jersey.
