Through 11 games Brooks Laich is a team worst -4 and has ZERO points.

Not only is he not earning his contract - he may not even be earning a sweater here soon. Galiev, Latta, Brown, etc are all trying to improve and get better - and probably have way more upside than Laich now.

I'd say Laich isn't just playing for his contract now - but possibly his career. He used to be a guy that could be the best two way player on the ice for the Caps. Now he just seems like he has nothing left and the game has passed him by in a Jeff Schultz kind of way.

Orpik has played bad lately - but he also was hurt/missed all of the pre season/training camp. I think another month or two we'll see how that line is doing.
