He plays C. He could play wing if need be, but he's played C at most levels it looks like. Maybe a Leafs fan can clarify.

If Bracco makes the league (big if), it’ll be as a winger.

Bracco's poor skating (by NHL standards) prevents him being a centre. I was optimistic he had turned the corner after a superb season but in the pre season, he showed he wasn't NHL ready. IMO he never will have the speed, strength overall game to be an NHLer. Look at the top scorers in the AHL year after year. Guys were only a had sniff in the NHL and guys were never will get an NHL sniff.
Believe or not since the Leafs have lots of AHL Dmen. Adding one more in a trade doesn't make sense to the Leafs. Admitting only two of multitude of Dmen will ever by NHLer...Sandin and Liljegren. Bracco probably plays out of the season as Marlie...possibly he is not even resigned and will be UFA next summer. A team that wants him might pay a fifth rounder for his rights.

One bonus to letting him play this year in the minors is he won't be able to re-sign for 3M+ like Kapanen and Johnsson. Mikheyev will probably need a contract like that next year, Muzzin and Barrie are UFA and will need to be re-signed or replaced. Bracco coming in on say a cheap 2 year deal at 775K is a nice bonus for a cap strapped team.

What's so wrong about it. The original post said to make a centre....my post said he will never be a centre. If the Leafs don't want to resign him as a RFA...due to lack NHL probabilities he would be a UFA. Leafs have to decide next June whether is worthy of being part of the 50 man roster. It's subjective...is he a good asset? The Leafs deem him only a good asset if he has a change to be an NHLer .
