...sooo we’re going to act like Rask didn’t take the Bruins to the cup finals twice and that he doesn’t have a .925 save percentage and a 2.22 GAA in the playoffs?
If we're being 100% pedantic it's a save "ratio" when spelled out... It used to be given as a percentage number and the old "sv%" marker still lingers. If you think about it, a sub 1.000 "percentage" would always be pretty awful, the goalie letting in more than 99 of every 100 shots. :sarcasm:

Okay, this isn't even a pet peeve, just one of the mildly amusing discrepancies you tend to notice when you're not a native speaker but had to sweat it at school to understand what the Muricans are saying lol

Interesting to see what comes out of this between Bruins/Providence and Rask. Maybe he has gas in the tank for one last hurrah. He isn't geriatrically old yet for a goalie.

Sounds like he'll be signing with Boston shortly. With the taxi squad, perhaps he can work off the rust practicing with the big club instead of playing in the AHL?

Alright, strange that they wouldn't just go ahead and announce the signing.....or at the very least throw him out there for a game or two. :dunno:

Providence had games postponed due to covid, so he never got a chance to play with them on the PTO.

I have no doubt he'll be signed by the B's to a professional contract soon.

I suppose but why would you send down your number 1 guy when you're in a playoff race?

Ullmark has been playing like their #1 guy lately and Cassidy is giving him the starts. He also has the bigger contract and if the kid is waiver exempt, and Rask is back in the picture, you make it happen.

Covid issues in Providence with games being cancelled. I assume they don't wanna risk having Rask around that team at the moment as it would probably lead to him having to enter covid protocol. He'll sign with the Bruins and get in game shape practicing with the big club. No reason to rush him as Swayman is waiver exempt

How can Boston trade someone that doesnt have a contract? Rask can sign anywhere he wants - He is UFA.
Fans here are making it sound like signing Rask is a done deal. Which is weird because they already have two number ones. Why send a guy down because he's doing a good job? Seems illogical. Just keep the two guys who are doing good and wish Rask well somewhere else.

Rask has been the backbone of the Bruins core for the last decade and has led the team to multiple deep runs and is well respected in the franchise.. If he wants to come back for one more run with the Bruins he has pretty much earned that right to do so. Swayman is the future but there is no harm sending him down while a tandem of Rask and Ullmark try to make a deep run for the Bruins. Its also a pretty good situation to have a guy like Swayman who is waiver exempt sitting in the wings if either get hurt or struggles.

This was never a guess or a wild assumption. This situation has been a done deal and pretty much been set in stone since the day Rask had the surgery.
