If Price is acquired, I bet AA think's he can re-sign him .. And possibly move EE and/or Bautista in the off-season to relieve some salary (particularly if payroll is cut) - yes I realize Dickey and Buerhle would be gone to help but the Jays still need to fill out the roster/depth... Also it would restock the prospect pool.

But this gives the Jays a big shot in the playoffs now

Not to mention that AA rebuilt the system in what, 18 months? These guys aren't exactly 'irreplaceable'.

You get a ~60 shots a year to draft prospects.

I don't like trading prospects, but I think that's an important point.

Right?! Every year you get to add 40 new players. Someone's bound to payoff that no one expected. These guys can be replaced.
