No way to really positively 'spin-it'. The Islanders have to be more than mildly disappointed in Horvat down the stretch and into the playoffs.

He really didn't come close to replicating the offense he provided for the Canucks. But I suppose this shouldn't be surprising. The Canucks were 'all-offense' but a defensive train-wreck. So it was inevitable that Horvat's career year in Vancouver would die on the vine in Long Island.

Still, the Islanders have to praying that Horvat bounces back next season. Otherwise that $8.5m contract will be as 'cap-killer'.

He looked just fine with a healthy Barzal.

Yes he needed to be better.
