I do think Nikita Zadorov will have a career season this year.
Not in terms of points, but in terms of being a tunnel of doom player. This is Sutter's guy.

I like both players, but it’s so hard to swallow when an alternative was adding a superstar C who would alter the outlook of the franchise

We are building a team with Darryl Sutter vision, this will end up badly for us.

I think what I thought is coming true, we are going to spin our wheels for 4-6 years before entering a full rebuild.

Yup. Treliving lowballs RFAs on the verge of breaking out with shitty bridge deals, and trades away 24 year old 1st line centers because he doesn't want to experiment with lineup changes, yet signs guys just past their prime like they're a commodity.

Like the player a lot, not a fan of the contract. 4 years would have been ideal, 5 years palatable, 6 not my favorite.

The reason Coleman was so valuable for the Lightning was because he was cheap quality depth plugged into a great roster. He is no longer cheap and no longer plugged into a great roster. With a term of 6 years he should have been around a 4 million dollar AAV. He's making more than Lindholm ffs. Yet another premium price for a post apex player.

Positives :
-unlike most of Tre's FA signings, this guy can actually skate
-great on the boards, very physical, Darryl has his new toy
-this team needed 5v5 help in the worst way, Coleman provides that
-plays both wings, and even a bit of center if I remember correctly
-scores goals sometimes
-should be a great fit with Backlund, takes some PK responsibility off of Lindy
-coming off back to back Stanley Cups, so that's cool
-ruggedly handsome
