As it stands, Nylander is a 3rd liner. He shouldn't be expected to do anything more than that at this stage of his career.

Agree, he’s currently a third liner but that doesn’t mean he’ll always be.

Im not making excuses or anything just a talking point but it seems the kids operate under a different set of rules. Maybe he’s worried about making a mistake. Let him be what he is. Let him try to create chances in the o-zone and take some chances because the skill set is there offensively. Maybe put him on a less defense first line. Slide Kubalik to the Toews line and put Nylander on the third line. Let him be the guy on his line. That worked out earlier in the season.

I’m probably in the minority but I don’t mind Dach playing with Smith and Carpenter.

They both play with a ton of effort. Strome is back so Dach isn’t going to get 15-17 minutes a night anymore. They also battle hard along the boards which is something Dach has been doing himself.
