If they are negotiating with a backup goaltender or a bargain center, if an agent was very smart and knew how to be updated, he could figure out how much space there was.

This is just an example, but if the Hawks say they can only spare $2 million on a FA but have $5.5 million of cap space, the player agent knows Stanley is full of it.

I think it's a tactic to get more of a fair deal. I have a feeling we weren't supposed to find out how much Handzus got.

To answer fiddy's more legitimate concern, especially over an 82 game season, it wouldn't be surprising to see Leddy and Oduya rotating between that 4 and 5 spot throughout most of this season. Leddy will never get 1st pairing minutes on this club as long as Keith is on the team. Leddy's realistic upside is going to be a great #3/4 dman to play with Hjalmarsson

Becaise when T and K come up for renew or ufa in 2 yrs they woll demand more thab Giroux got. ..after all they will have a third Cup by then and if by miracle it is a 4th Cup them that puts them to max contracts..nope in those scenarios a wose GM does not give both the moon...you make a blockbuster tyo get you 3 cheap yrs from McDavid before his ELC is jup...staggered with 5more yrs with Toews on a max...co upled then with McDavid on an 9 yr max...anywau the point is you trDe Kane in 2 yrs from now selling high..but to get McDavid you also gotta give them a Leddy who costs a hige cap number IF he explodes ober the next 2 yrs from no2 onto Karlsson or Letang type scoring prowrss and also include a top prospect amd a first..after all McDavid is the next GREAT ONe and you wants 8 extra yrs of THAT then you get from an already 26 yr old Kane by then...Trust me Stan has this all planned out..course we eould not keep facing these cap hell decisions if only Rocky would have nougjt out Hossa on a compliance..but instead they chose Olesz and Montador..we will be forced to trade other assets doen the line several tomrs because the Hossa contracr willbe sucj an albatross going forward..which is why ecentually..dooner than later..
